Playing with a New Book!

Prime Days are coming Tuesday and Wednesday this week, so I thought today I would share my recent crafty Amazon purchase that I have been playing with the past few days!

Simple Farmhouse Life book.jpg

I’d been eyeing Simple Farmhouse Life for awhile and finally threw it in my Amazon cart on an order about two weeks ago. It’s essentially an encyclopedia of basic DIY projects for the home from Farmhouse on Boone blogger Lisa Bass. I thought the book might be good to have on hand as a reference for making things like natural cleaning supplies, and for making practical gifts. Sometimes, even as a craft blogger, it’s nice to just follow someone else’s instructions when I want to make a quick project instead of trying to invent my own method!

Wool Dryer Ball In Progress.jpg

My first project from Simple Farmhouse Life is currently in progress, a wool dryer ball that I’m making using Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool yarn (that also came from Amazon). It took about an hour of winding like you can see above to make just one. I’ll see how it turns out after all of the felting process is done on it - it has to take multiple trips through a HOT washer and dryer before I’ll know how the finished product looks. After one trip through, it looks pretty good if not as picture-perfect as in the book.

I think next I may try one of the recipes in the book for using melt-and-pour soap, since I already have on hand the soap base and have been looking for a reason to use it up. I just need to order some dried calendula for it.

What crafty items will you be looking for on Prime Day?
