Silhouette

Silhouette’s big promotion at the CHA Mega Show 2015 was the recent unveiling of scan and cut technology for both their Cameo and Portrait machines. Using a smartphone camera and the new Pix Scan Mat, crafters can turn a photo of any printed, stamped, or hand-drawn image into a cut file. The Cameo mat measures 8.5” x 11.5” and the Portrait version is 7.5” x 11.5”. The mats retail for $14.99 each.

Craftwell

The Cut ‘n’ Boss, retailing for $269, is essentially a manual diecutter that uses an electronic motor to pull diecutting plates through the machine, eliminating the need for a manual crank. It comes with multiple adapter plates, to cut and emboss using any manual dies or embossing folders, including a set of brand new designs for Craftwell by Teresa Collins.
