CHA Summer 2013 | Hot Pick: Teresa Collins

So here, in no particular order, is the next hot pick for CHA Summer 2013 (aka Create-n-Connect)…

Teresa Collins' unique signature style is well known to industry watchers. She uses vintage style design elements, but arranges them in a more graphic styled way, with a light airy look, bright modern colors, and adding in a few modern elements to the mix. The result is a style that crosses trend lines. As a consequence, Teresa fared well during the massive popularity of vintage, but is still relevant now that graphic is quickly becoming the industry's dominant design force. Her four lines released at CHA's summer show in Las Vegas only reinforced her power in the market, along with the expansion of her licensing with her name being put on a machine from Craftwell. (She had previously released licensed embossing folders through the company.)

The first of her four new lines - Family Stories - is a theme that seemed to be everywhere at CHA, but no one does it like Teresa does! Combining floral toile, doilies and antique paper prints with hip elements like male and female icons, with a trendy pink, black, and pale turquoise color palette, Teresa created something that has her signature all over it.

Chalkboard was everywhere at the show, and Teresa was all over that trend with her Memorabilia collection. Combining it with yellow, pale turquoise, and a krafty brown, the result is a somewhat lighter (and more usable) touch than some of the other collections selling the look.

These stickers and die cuts seem heavy on the chalkboard look, but it's because the background is black and it makes the sheet look darker than the designs themselves actually are. It's actually a very nice mix of light colors with some chalkboard.

Halloween also got a lot of black, but no chalkboard here - "Masquerade Party" is created with a regular black for its brocade, spider webs and other spooky stuff! Several of the collection's papers have foil effects on them.

Teresa's stamp set for Masquerade Party reflects the growing trend towards Halloween entertaining, including stamps for creating an invitation.

All of those collections are gorgeous but beyond a doubt, the real jewel of Teresa's summer release was the Christmas collection called "Santa's List". Almost every single item in this collection had me immediately picturing how I would love to use it - the ultimate test of a collection!

Perhaps most notable about this as a Christmas collection is that there isn't barely a sprig of green in sight! The color scheme is red, white and kraft:

These brads and washi tape may be the single best Christmas items on the show floor. The brads in particular will be popular with December Daily fans.

The small image sizes on the stamp set makes them very usable for everything from cards to gift tags to Project Life.

If you see Santa's List on the shelf and want it for a holiday project, my advice is to grab it, even if it is still early to think about the holidays - it won't be around long!
