Pinterest Inspiration | Pops of Color

While looking through Pinterest a couple of weeks ago, I spotted some delightful bracelets that really intrigued me. The clean lines of the design plus the pops of gorgeous color drew me in immediately. When I clicked through to the designer's website, the first thing she explained was that she was inspired to create them by another bracelet she had found on Pinterest. I love that circle of inspiration!

The designer of these charming bracelets is Katy, the owner and writer of the popular blog, Sweet Verbena. Made of just embroidery floss, beads and hollow charms, they are beautiful in their simplicity. Katie has a full tutorial on her site found at Bracelets: A Tutorial and I can't wait to make some.

First things first, though. I was so inspired by the circles, the simplicity, and the pops of color in her bracelets that I had to turn that inspiration into a layout.

All supplies from Designer Digitals | Paper: Blue Skies Solid Paper Pack by Andrea Victoria. Stitched Circles: In Stitches: Circles No. 02 by Katie Pertiet. Word Art: I Heart Stories Brushes and Stamps by Ali Edwards. Embellishments:  Artistry de Sol Kit (yellow butterfly), Artistry de Azul Kit (white butterfly) by Katie Pertiet.

I wanted the layout to be simple - just like Katy's bracelets - so I started with a very subtly textured piece of white cardstock and placed three colorful photos straight across the middle of the page. Adding in the stitched circles completed the pop of color I loved so much in the inspiration piece. After that, I simply added the word art as my title, some journaling, and three butterflies as my only other embellishments. Simple, colorful and charming - just like the bracelets.

I hope that you are as inspired by Katie's jewelry as I was! The energetic pops of color in her bracelet have really lit a creative spark in me and I hope it does in you, too. Let me know where you find inspiration and maybe I’ll use it in a future column. You can also follow my Pinterest boards here.
