K & Co. brings Ancestry.com line to Target
I've long been a fan of the Marcella by Kay line that K & Co. creates for Target. I actually do a significant amount of scrapbook shopping at Target since I don't have a scrapbook store nearby, and Marcella by Kay falls into my cart quite regularly! (It doesn't hurt that I have a little girl and they do beautiful florals.)
During my most recent trip to Target's scrapbook aisle I saw something new. K & Co. has actually brought their Ancestry.com licensed line of family history products to Target under the Marcella by Kay name. As a former professional genealogist who is currently writing articles for several genealogy magazines, I find this very exciting!
Although the line at Target shares the licensed name of Ancestry.com with the line available under the K & Co. name, it is not the exact same line. It is similar in some ways - a few of the embellishments are the same but different colors, and the genealogy charts that come in the paper pack are the same except for having a different decorative border. But the line overall is a different color scheme. The Marcella by Kay line is a based on a pastel green where the K & Co. line is based on a bolder blue. I actually prefer the colors and designs of the Marcella by Kay version over the K & Co. version myself. I'm looking forward to using it to scrapbook some of the heritage photos that I am currently in the process of scanning from an old photo album that belonged to my late maternal grandmother.
The papers come in 12 x 12 and 8.5 x 8.5 pads. The smaller pad is available on Target.com along with a small album, but in stores (or at least mine) there was a selection of several albums and at least a half dozen different embellishment accessories to choose from. Several are pictured above along with the papers from the paper pack.
As a genealogist I am excited to see family history being spotlighted in this way at a mainstream store. As a scrapbook consumer, I am pleased with one of my favorite stores and companies for giving me a fabulous product once again.
