Celebrating Star Wars Day with Project Life!

Star Wars Day – May the fourth – made me nostalgic for the fun we had a few years back when we visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios during Star Wars Weekends at the park. I had never scrapped any of those pictures so in honor of May 4th this year, I decided it was time to get some of them in an album!

Star Wars Day layout with Project Life

Since I had so many usable photos, a Project Life layout seemed the way to go to get the most photos in the least space. One of my favorite things about Project Life is how efficient it can be at using up photos! Continue Reading →

Project | Travel Album: Snapshots Creativeworld 2014

The Creativeworld 2014 travel album is back! With all the other projects that I have to do, this album keeps getting sidelined. But I am bound and determined that this travel Project Life album will get completed, so I keep plugging away at it a bit at a time in odd free moments.

This layout assembles some random memories from various parts of the show: my wardrobe, a night out for a press dinner, and my appearance onstage at the Creative Talks area, among other things. Continue Reading →

Project | Travel Album: Messe Frankfurt Style

[Disclosure: Messe Frankfurt is a Scrapbook Update sponsor.]

2016 is just around the corner, and that means another trip in late January to Frankfurt for Creativeworld. So now I’m on a mission to get my 2014 Frankfurt album completed before then so that I will still only be one album behind! It’s time to crank out some pages if I’m going to make it!

Today’s layout is sort of part two of the previous layout I did that was titled Hello Messe Frankfurt. The content is somewhat an extension of the first layout, and much of the design is as well.

Messe Frankfurt Style layout

This layout is all about the inside of Messe Frankfurt, whereas the previous one was more the outside. I kept the design very consistent from the previous one by using the Project Life “Everyday” Core Kit by Liz Tamanaha again, but this time I needed to add something. This layout had a lot of orange in the photos, because of the signage inside the Messe. To tie this in, I reached for another Core Kit, also by Liz Tamanaha. The insanely popular Midnight Core Kit has the same black and white color scheme and coordinates perfectly with the Everyday core kit – but has touches of golden yellow that work wonderfully with the signage in my photos! Project | Travel Album: Hello Messe Frankfurt

A few weeks ago when I was at Scrapbook Expo in Schaumburg, IL, I had the opportunity to visit the Becky Higgins Project Life booth at the show. The booth was selling several kits that hadn’t really even been announced yet, let alone hit stores. I was thrilled to discover one of them was a new kit called Everyday by Liz Tamanaha (aka Paislee Press), who designed the Midnight core kit that I love!

I was about to start scrapbooking the Creativeworld trade show portion of my Frankfurt album, and the expanses of white and bold black text with pops of color would be the perfect match for the aesthetic of Messe Frankfurt. I couldn’t snatch it up fast enough!

These first two pages about the trade show are aimed at showcasing the glass and white walled beauty of Messe Frankfurt and explaining how huge it is. (For more about the trade show, check out my past articles on Creativeworld!) Continue Reading →

Project | Travel Album: Wander Frankfurt

[Some products on this layout were provided as editorial samples by Close to my Heart and Ranger.]

My previous spreads in my Frankfurt trip album have been very intricate and detailed. For this one, I decided to go quite a bit more graphic and clean after falling in love with the Ready…Jet Set! kit on Kelly Purkey’s website. I couldn’t resist ordering it!

Now that I am back off the road from all of my traveling, I am back to my travel scrapbooking! I’m still working on getting layouts done from my trip to Frankfurt in 2014. This is the first of two layouts that contain assorted photos from my walking tour of the area around Frankfurt’s historic Römer square.
