This time around, there’s noteworthy design team calls, some new products, and a big warehouse sale to check out!

If a lot of the December Daily event kits are giving you sticker shock with their prices up to $100, you may want to check out this one from Scrapbook.com and Teresa Collins:

Christmas Countdown

The “Christmas Countdown” memory album kit is only $19.99 from Scrapbook.com, and includes supplies from Teresa Collins Designs’ Christmas Cottage collection to make a 3-ring album that measures approximately 8.25″ x 9.75″.

Becky Higgins has a call for submissions up for her annual 12 videos of Christmas event. The guidelines are pretty simple and just about anything goes for content. Submissions are due on November 26th. So, haul out your video cameras, and good luck!

Pantone is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, November 7th, that includes a color forecast for Autumn/Winter 2013/2014. The webinar is free and takes place at Noon EST. Pre-registration is required – click the link to register.

Carta Bella has gone digital! The company is joining its sister company Echo Park in offering its collections in digital format through JessicaSprague.com. The first collection to be made available is Christmas Day, with two paper packs, two embellishment packs and a complete collection pack.

BasicGrey is having a warehouse sale! The sale is from 10-5pm this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 9th and 10th) at their warehouse in Layton, UT. Don’t forget to bring a can of non-perishable food to donate to the Utah Food Bank and get a free embellishment!

For those who don’t live within travel distance of BasicGrey’s warehouse in Layton, the company is also offering a warehouse box sale, with boxes costing $38.

As the end of the year is approaching, there is a huge list of design team calls out this month for 2013 teams:

Noteworthy | 10.23.2012 – New Releases!

There’s lots of new mid-releases being announced, as we hit that magical time between shows where CHA releases are so “yesterday” already! Here’s a look around the industry at what will be coming to a scrapbook store near you soon:

BasicGrey has two new collections that will be available starting in November exclusively at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores. “Fact & Fiction” is full of very usable vintage gorgeousness that will be sure to be a hit for the two companies.

In addition to the two paper pads, Fact & Fiction also includes a wide array of embellishments: stickers, chipboard, woven labels, stitched brads, epoxy brads, fabric flowers, and many others.

Bella Blvd is already looking past the Christmas holidays at the new year – and Valentine’s Day! Their bright, happy line called Kiss Me is versatile and will work for plenty of other occasions besides the holiday of love. It also has one especially unique element that I’m pretty certain has never been seen in a Valentine’s Day line: moustaches!

“Kiss Me” has a huge selection of Bella coordinates: alphabets, tape, buttons and stickers. No word on when it will be shipping, but watch for it soon!

Doing exclusive lines for big box stores is all the rage! Target is debuting a line this week called “Decorate It” by Hero Arts that features 14 exclusive sets that will appear in Target’s scrapbooking aisle.

Hero Arts Target

The products are gradually being stocked in Target stores across the country all this week, so keep your eye out for them in a store near you! (If you are an online shopper, the new line will be available at Target.com in a few weeks.)

Studio Calico has a new mid-release line called Darling Dear that will be available in stores in mid-November. They describe it as being the style of Old Hollywood, so I guess that makes me “old” because the line is very much in the 1970’s style that is so trendy at the moment.

In addition to the patterned papers, the line also includes two specialty papers, Mr Huey’s mists, Thickers, letter stickers, wood veneer, gems, and a variety of sticker and paper elements – including journaling cards perfect for Project Life or Studio Calico’s own Handbook system.

American Crafts is joining the flood of companies who want to turn the page on the calendar and celebrate the holiday of love in 2013 already. Their new Valentine’s Day line is called XOXO:

The line comes with all the usual American Crafts accessories: stamps, Thickers, dimensional stickers and die cuts.

For fans of American Crafts’ popular D-ring albums, the announcement of five new 12×12 designs will be very welcome! The mid-release from American Crafts features albums in two woodgrain patterns, white lace, pink ombre and a woodblock letter patterned design.

American Crafts is also adding scissors to their growing line of tools. Cutup Crafting Scissors with fine points and pink handles will be available in 5″, 6″, and 7″ sizes in various package configurations.

Crate Paper also has a new Valentine’s Day line to offer, called Fourteen. The line is in Crate’s classic vintage style. While many of the accessories are heavy on Valentine’s or love themes, the patterned papers are very versatile, featuring feminine banners & florals, maps, ledger, and graphic designs in addition to hearts and Valentines.

Forget Valentine’s Day…it’s already spring on Pebbles’ calendar! Their new line Family Ties is done in trendy blue and yellow, and includes the increasing return of family history to scrapbooking.

The line will include a dozen double-sided patterned papers, as well as corrugated letter stickers, stamps, journaling cards, and more. Especially noteworthy is that Pebbles is bringing back their printed chipboard embellishments, called Chips, with this line.

Provo Craft has announced an updated version of the Cricut Mini. They are touting the machine’s updated design software (Cricut Craft Room) and improved cutting mats. The new Cricut Mini has an MSRP of $129, but several retailers, including Walmart and Amazon.com, are currently selling it for $99.

Noteworthy | 10.12.2012

We’ve got lots to cover in Noteworthy today! The holidays are coming fast, CHA is coming fast, and companies are announcing new lines right and left!

Love Ranger’s Tim Holtz Distress Ink Seasonal Colors? Well, now you can love them all year round!

Seasonal Distress Colors

Ranger has announced they are expanding the basic Distress Ink Pad color palette to 48 colors from 36, to include the 12 colors that have been released as “seasonal” ink colors in the last year.  The new colors, like the previous colors, will be available in both ink pads and reinkers as full-fledged members of the Distress Palette.

In case you missed them the first time around, the new colors are: Picked Raspberry, Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon, Squeezed Lemonade, Iced Spruce, Mowed Lawn, Evergreen Bough, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac, Seedless Preserves, and Gathered Twigs.

The addition of these 12 colors to the full-time Distress palette does more than give Distress fans more colors. It also provides a significant update to the palette in terms of color tone. The twelve new colors are distinctly brighter and more saturated than the existing palette, which will make the Distress Ink palette more relevant to current trends in scrapbooking as vintage is starting to give way to the dominance of a more vibrantly colored graphic look.

After conducting a recent survey on Facebook about whether their customers might be interested in purchasing stamps individually rather than in sets, Stampin’ Up! is now offering 21 stamps that are being sold by the individual item. The stamps are from the popular collections Perfectly Penned, Word Play, and Seasonal Sayings. The stamps are being sold in clear-mount only, and come packaged in a plastic bag.  The individual stamps are priced starting at $4.95 and up.

A few new design teams have been announced this week:

NBC News has an interesting article up on their website debating whether or not it’s truly creating if you use a craft kit. There’s some thought provoking opinions from some experts in the crafts market in the piece.

Jenni Bowlin wrote a great blog entry this week. She called it a rant, but I call it inspiring. She bared her soul quite a bit about how the day-to-day minutiae of running a business can distract you from the passion that brought you into the business in the first place. More importantly, she talked about the steps she is taking to grab that passion back from the brink of the cliff it was teetering on. It’s a must-read for anyone whose job is also their passion.

If you are a WordPress user, you should check out Mashable’s recent article containing 6 tips on how to integrate your Twitter account with your WordPress site. Even if you think that you are in pretty good shape in that area, you might find a useful idea that you’ve overlooked in this fabulous article.

It’s not even Halloween yet on my calendar, but BasicGrey has just announced a new Valentine’s Day line already! The line is called True Love, and features a dozen papers in pink, red, turquoise and brown, along with a variety of other embellishments.

BasicGrey True Love

Graphic45 is also getting ready for the new year with a calendar themed line. “A Place in Time” is huge – it features 26 double-sided patterned papers! Each month of the year has a foundation sheet, plus a cut-apart sheet.

In addition to the 24 monthly sheets, there are two annual sheets, one with a blank calendar and one cut-apart with sentiments on it. Like all Graphic45 collections, A Place in Time also features chipboard and sticker elements as well.

And rounding out the new releases, we have some new peeks from My Mind’s Eye! They are adding to their blockbuster Lost & Found series to create Lost & Found 3!

The new Lost & Found will feature two sub-collections, Oliver and Ruby.

As you’d expect from the name, Ruby is full of brilliant red:

Oliver, on the other hand, is full of masculine blues:

BasicGrey isn’t the only company preparing for Valentine’s Day already – My Mind’s Eye also has announced a new line called Lucky in Love that is full of pink and red hearts and flowers:

Lucky in Love

The Mom Creative has a brief, but very helpful, article about what to do when you are behind on Project Life. She shares a few key tips that will help you get back on track without tearing your hair out, or losing your passion for the project that you started.

And lastly, how about a good laugh? If you are a manufacturer and need a demonstrator for CHA, you might want to try hiring this guy:

CHA Summer 2012: BasicGrey

I showed you a look earlier at one of Basic Grey’s collections, a holiday collection called Aspen Frost…here’s a quick look at the rest of BasicGrey’s new collections at CHA Summer 2012.

BasicGrey’s “Serenade” line includes blues and browns and birds.

The alphabet sticker set includes three fonts: classic BasicGrey, a typewriter key style, and a tiny font.

BasicGrey’s Lucille line is a vintage-sewing inspired line. The line includes wooden buttons, vintage buttons, pins, a couple of alphabet stickers, chipboard shapes, brads, garland die cuts, and woven labels (among other embellishments).

I was drawn to the fabric pattern paper (Pleat), but even if you are not a fan of sewing, there is plenty to love in this line.

Basic Grey’s Soleil line is a brightly colored line with yellows, pinks, blues, and purples.

The line reminds me of summer but could be used for any layout needing a bright, happy motif.

BasicGrey’s also bringing back their Micro Mono Alphabet Stickers, and they are going to be available in eight colors: white, red, pink, blue, black, white cap, grey, and green.

The MSRP for the alphabet sticker sheets is $1.50 each.

CHA Summer 2012: Basic Grey Aspen Frost

I suppose this speaks to the popularity of Basic Grey’s “Aspen Frost” among retailers, but I had a difficult time getting a close view of this line because everyone was checking it out! Aspen Frost is a great winter/Christmas line because it does mix elements that scream Christmas (e.g., ornaments), but also designs that are in Christmas colors but could be used in non-Christmas projects. Versatility of themed lines was a noticeable trend at Summer CHA.
