Make an Easy Card to say “Hello There!”

This card uses a beautiful new paper pad from My Minds Eye called Gingham Gardens. I’ve always loved their 6x6 paper pads for cardmaking, and as soon as I saw the preview of this one I knew I had to make cards with it!
I started my card with a pre-made 4.25” x 5.5” card base because I happened to have the right color in my stash, but of course you can also use a 8.5” x 5.5” piece of cardstock and fold it.
Next I cut a piece from the large floral design that is 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”. When I cut the piece, I cut it so the large floral element on the left side was centered vertically. Then I inked the edges of it with Wild Honey Distress Ink and adhered it centered to the front with tape runner.
From the scraps left over from cutting my card front, I cut another piece that is 5 1/8” by 3/8”. I adhered that to the top of the card with the striped side showing, after inking the edges with the Wild Honey Distress Ink. .
To add a little bit of an extra touch to the card, I got out my Nuvo Glitter Drops! The Golden Sunset is almost the exact color of the centers of some of the big flowers, so I put dots on them to highlight them and add some sparkle.
Next I chose a neutral piece of paper from the pad and punched a 2” circle out of it. I used Distress Clear Embossing Ink to stamp “hello there” on it, and then embossed it in copper for some more sparkle. Then I inked the outside edge in Pumice Stone before adhering it with foam adhesive squares.
Finally, I got out my good old classic Martha Stewart Large Monarch Butterfly punch. I’ve had this punch forever and still love it. If you don’t have this punch, any butterfly punch or stamp (stamped and then cut out) will do if it has a wingspan of about 2”. I punched it from a pale pink polkadot sheet in the pad. Then I adhered it so it connects the top border with the sentiment block.
This card could be used for a lot of occasions just by changing the sentiment, such as birthday, thank you, and anniversary, among others. And this simple design could be used with a lot of different color schemes. If you don’t have a floral paper that will work, use a large floral stamp in the area on the left side instead.
