Layout | Color Chaos by Bella Blvd

This photo of my daughter and I is just a random selfie we took goofing off during one of her online school classes, but it came out so wonderful that I wanted to do something special with it. The bright fun patterns of Bella Blvd's recent Color Chaos collection seemed the perfect answer!

Together layout

Supplies:

The hardest part of this layout was starting it. I figured out pretty quickly that I wanted to color block my background using the two papers (the blue & white text and the white with the text & arrows). But it seemed like doing the blocking vertically or horizontally would be too staid for this very dynamic photo.

And then I thought...what about a diagonal line? I cut the blue paper into a triangle and the result was just as fun as the photo!

After that, the layout came together quickly. The block of pink helped ground the photo on the background. Its diagonal lines go the opposite direction of the background, creating more visual texture and movement. I cut a big bold title "together" from one of my favorite Cricut cartridges, Graphically Speaking.

Since the photo was taken during our daily online school time, I wanted to add a few school elements. I grabbed another recent Bella Blvd collection, Star Student, for those. The graph paper backside of a design called "Chemistry" became note paper with the help of a border punch, and I tucked it under the edge of the pink block. The black word strips that continue the school theme were cut from a sheet called "Geek Chic" (the reverse of it is a pattern of glasses frames).

I still needed a few more elements - and a bit of color - so I went back to my Color Chaos collection. The yellow circle that says "documented" was punched out of a 2x2 block on the Daily Details sheet. The butterfly was punched out of a 4x6 block of rainbow watercolor droplets on that same sheet, giving it a rainbow look. For the final touch, a few rhinestone hearts adds a touch of sparkle!

I can't wait to work with the Color Chaos collection by Bella Blvd again. It's so bright, versatile, and happy!
