Owner Kristen Young announced the decision in a blog post on Thursday:

After taking the last year off, I have made the decision to close down Lily Bee Design. It's been a great 5 years with lots of memories and friendships made. I'd always dreamed of owning my own company and designing scrapbook paper. It was a dream come true.  And to YOU our wonderful customers, thank you so much for all your support.

Lily Bee Design began life in February 2009 as a kit club before debuting the next year at CHA as a wholesale exhibitor. The company stood out in a strong field of new exhibitors at the Winter 2010 show that included Silhouette, Studio Calico, and Teresa Collins, and were awarded a Scrapbook Update Top Ten Hot Pick for their debut show in recognition for their embellishment lines. The company announced in January 2014 that it was suspending operations indefinitely due to Kristen Young's health issues.

The industry's loss will mean some deals for the company's fans, however. Lily Bee, known for its small detailed feminine paper patterns and sticker sheets of eight sets of tiny alphabet stickers, is holding an online clearance sale with huge discounts on products. Boxes with a value of over $100 are priced at $22 plus shipping. Paper is being sold for $.83 for a pack of 12 sheets. For $9.99 plus shipping, you can get a 12 sheet package of 12 the designs in a collection - 144 sheets! International shipping is being offered as part of the sale, for the company's fans outside the United States.

Although Lily Bee Design is going away, Kristen Young isn't giving up on the entrepreneur life. She will be launching a new venture called "Lily Bee Finds" in 2015, which she describes as "a fun boutique of Women's and Children's items at incredible discount prices."
