Things are picking up again after a post-CHA lull…there’s some really great news and announcements from some big names this week, as well as  some new design team calls and other fun things to check out!

Project Real Life by Becky Higgins

Big Picture Classes is gearing up for a couple of really big events. Registration just opened for Becky Higgins’ upcoming class Project Real Life, which is the 4Experts series class for the 4th quarter of 2012. The class will go in-depth into the philosophy of scrapping and living that is behind the Project Life products.

From Sept. 4th-17th, Big Picture will also be running a free event called Big Idea Festival! Big names like Ali Edwards, Cathy Zielske, May Flaum, and Stacy Julian will each be taking a turn teaching a day of the the Idea Festival.

Donna Downey has shared photos of her newly opened larger space for her Donna Downey Studios retail location in Huntersville, NC. The enlarged location is next door to where the previous Studio was located, and features a retail floor and gorgeous classroom space, as well as administrative and warehouse space for the company.

If you’ve been waiting for an invite to join the Pinterest frenzy, you’re in luck! Pinterest announced this week that they are no longer in private beta, and an invitation is no longer required to join. So now anyone and everyone can pin to their heart’s content! Enjoy!

Speaking of hip apps, if you haven’t hopped on the Instagram bandwagon yet – or even if you have – Stephanie Howell has written a great primer on Instagram basics that will have you filtering, using tilt shift and printing the results in no time. is having a Summer Olympics scrapbook layout contest! Add your photos to their Summer Olympics layout gallery and then have your friends vote on them!

Ever wonder what goes into setting up a CHA booth? Carta Bella designer Carina Gardner has a fabulous, informative and entertaining behind the scenes video look at the whole exhausting process. You’ll see some surprising things: Ironing, for instance – a lot of it.

Challenged by how to store your clear stamps, and can’t seem to find a solution? Stamp queen Jen McGuire, whose practical organizing methods for these difficult items has attracted a lot of fans, has redone her clear stamp storage again – and it’s even better than before!

Check out the Paper Crafts blog for all of the details of how she did this (it’s more complex than it looks in the photo above).

Looking for a new design team gig? A couple of large manufacturers have just put out new calls for their teams!

Good luck to all who apply!
