This week I've got some designer news, some hot products, and some new calls to bring to you....and of course, as always, some great links.

The Gaylord Opryland convention center in Nashville, TN, which will host a CK Convention on Aug. 24th-25th, was the site of a large mechanical explosion on Tuesday that evacuated the hotel for several hours. The explosion did an estimated $750,000 in damage, but Gaylord officials told the Tennessean that the damage was limited to a relatively small 4,000 square foot area and the damage should be repaired by June 30th. Officials also told the Tennessean that they did not expect the damage to interfere with events at the property.

Fans of Hambly will be happy to hear that Allison Kreft isn't going away...Echo Park announced this week that it will be releasing a collection she designed, called Everyday Eclectic!

Allison's style is easily visible in Everyday Eclectic - and it's a perfect fit for Echo Park as well. This collection will make both Hambly and Echo Park fans happy!

Echo Park has Everyday Eclectic listed as "now available", so watch for it soon at your favorite scrapbook store!

DCWV made two big announcements this week. First, they announced that four new stacks will be debuting next week at Joann's stores.

Visit YouTube to see a video describing Stardust, Homespun, A Type of Art, and Gilded Orchard.

DCWV's second announcement this week was that they are assembling their very first design team for the DCWV Stack line of products. Applications are due on June 30th, and must include 1 card, 1 layout, and 2 off the page projects. A majority of the project must use DCWV products. For complete information on how to apply, visit the DCWV blog.

Hard to believe, but if you submit your design work, it's time to think about 2013 already! Papercrafts Magazine has their calls posted for their Jan/Feb 2013 issue. Topics for the calls include milestone birthdays, Valentine's Day, winter, creative uses of sentiment stamps, and their card sketch call. Submissions are due July 2nd.

Melody Ross has announced three more dates for 2012 for her Brave Girls camp, which takes place at her ranch in Star, Idaho. The new dates are:

  • October 23-26

  • November 27-30

  • December 11-14

For more information, visit the Brave Girls Camp webpage.

Scrap Time host Christine Urias made a big announcement this week - she is entering the iBook publishing market with her first three titles already available.

Scrap Time: The Book is currently available on iTunes, for $3.99. It contains an introductory video, as well as five how-to videos plus exclusive five questions videos with five industry designers.

Other titles available include CHA Winter 2012, and How To Make 10 Fabulous Fabric Flowers.

In the category of "I'm so going to do that...",  I came across not one but two blog entries on Project Life this week that contained the same concept - one that I can't believe that I haven't seen before. It's brilliant in it's simplicity. Using add-on insert page protectors has become quite a trend with Project Life, and both Elle (of Elle's Studio) and Susan Weinroth have posted Project Life pages recently where they created insert pages simply by cutting down standard 12x12 Project Life page protectors. Susan's page is also worth checking out just for it's absolutely fabulous title cards.

Stephanie Howell wrote a heartfelt piece about passion for scrapbooking, and how working in the industry can affect your creativity, this week. Everyone who works in the industry in a creative position, or who wants to, should read her honest exploration of the topic.

Melissa Frances featured some fabulous cards on their blog this week from Ukrainian designer Victoria Freze:

If you'd like to check out more beautiful creations from this talented designer - including some with an entirely different collection and look that show an impressive range on her part - visit the Melissa Frances blog here and here.
