Have a bunch of travel supplies and no travel pictures to scrapbook? Why not create a unique take on a “missing you” card like designer Sharon Callis?

Sharon has combined some very trendy travel elements into this card. Red and white airmail stripes seem to be everywhere right now, and so do paperclip flags – this embellishment by docrafts combines them! Postmarks are also a hot design element. Who would have thought they’d be good for more than the envelope of a card? This one from docrafts’ “All Aboard” stamp collection, along with the other postage themed stamps from the set, are perfect for the card’s theme.

Supplies | Patterned Paper: docrafts (All Aboard). Stamps: docrafts (All Aboard). Embellishment: docrafts (All Aboard Ribbon Clips). Ink: Clearsnap (Black, Red and Gray). Adhesive: Xyron (Mega Runner).

Cards | Happier By Your Side

Designer Sharon Callis is here today to show us an important element of the vintage style that is her signature – rich color.

This royal burgundy is a great example of the rich, saturated colors that can give a sophisticated air to vintage style design. Paired with the contrast of the detail of crochet ribbon, like Sharon did, it provides an especially lush look.

Tone on tone is a great way to use damask without the pattern being overwhelming. Here, the burgundy damask provides visual texture and enhances the theme while still remaining subtle.

Cards | Thinking of You [Pebbles]

#thinking of you main small

#thinking of you slant small

To close out Card Annex’s American Crafts brands feature week, we have a great card from designer Sharon Callis! Today we are focusing on Pebbles again!

This card highlights two of the best cardmaking Basics from the Pebbles brand – Cardmaking Pads and Card Sentiment Phrases stickers. These quick and easy basics make whipping up a card on demand problem-free!

Pairing the simple basics with some bling is the perfect way to quickly create a jazzy card. Sharon used a lot of bling paired with a strip of ribbon to create a visual block. With that level of detail and shine, that is all that is needed for a beautiful card!

Another thing to note about this card is that Sharon’s color palette establishes a tone for the message. The gray and blue gray palette sets a more serious tone for the sentiment of the card than if “thinking of you” was accompanied by bright pink or a cheery yellow. Sometimes an exuberant color palette isn’t appropriate to the reason for the card. This card’s palette is sensitive to those occasions.

Supplies | Card: Pebbles (Basics Cardmaking Pad 1). Stickers: Pebbles Card Sentiment Phrases (Thinking of You). Ribbon: Webster’s Pages. Gems: Habico. Adhesive: Xyron (Mega Runner).

Graphic 45 | Congratulations On Your Special Day

#main shot large

What a beautiful way to say congratulations! With the help of the vintage beauty of Graphic45, designer Sharon Callis is showing us today an elegant and sophisticated way to extend congratulations to someone special. This card could be appropriate for a wedding, birthday, or other special honor such as a retirement or winning an award – the sort of out of ordinary occasion that we don’t tend to have cards in our stashes pre-made for to grab when they arise.

Pebbles | Hello Friend

#hello friend main small

#hello friend slant small

Designer Sharon Callis is back again today for our American Crafts family feature week with another card project using more of the same fabulous Pebbles and Dear Lizzy products that she showed us yesterday.

Whereas yesterday Sharon showed a cute country styled look, todays look – although created from virtually identical products with just a few changes – is much more vintage, even Art Deco in style. This is a great example of how products can be versatile!

With 36 sheets in the Pebbles Basics Cardmaking Paper Pad, Sharon was able to use one of them to make a coordinated die cut for her card.

If you’ve got jewelry that is broken or that you’ve outgrown style-wise, have you ever considered upcycling it for your crafts projects? Metal is coming back for use in papercrafting, but it can seem expensive to use on a disposable project like a card. Recycling may be the answer, as Sharon did on this card. The result is money-saving, unique art!

Supplies | Card: Pebbles (Basics Cardmaking Paper Pad 1). Embellishments: Pebbles (Walnut Grove TagsCountry Picnic Layered Paper Flowers), American Crafts ‘Dear Lizzy’ Lucky Charm (Flag and Label Stickers). Die: Spellbinders ‘Nestabilities’ (A2 Filigree Delight). Gems: Habico. Adhesive: Xyron (Mega Runner). Jewelry: unknown (upcycled).

Designer Sharon Callis is here today to continue our week featuring the American Crafts family of brands. Today the focus is on Pebbles, with a supporting role by Flag and Label Stickers from the new Dear Lizzy “Lucky Charm” collection!

The card foundation is the new Basics Cardmaking Paper Pad 1 from Pebbles. They’re so fun and so convenient to work with – they provide ready-made coordinated card bases that work with Pebbles collections! (Retail is $6.99 for a pad that makes 36 cards – that’s less than 20 cents per card)

Cardmaking Paper Pads

With the foundation in place, the pre-made embellishments by Pebbles and Dear Lizzy layer beautifully on top and are perfectly coordinated. The American Crafts specialty paper with it’s detailed texture turns the die cut into a grounding element for the smaller embellishments.

Supplies | Card: Pebbles (Basics Cardmaking Paper Pad 1). Embellishments: Pebbles (Walnut Grove Tags, Country Picnic Layered Paper Flowers), American Crafts ‘Dear Lizzy’ Lucky Charm (Flag and Label Stickers). Specialty Paper: American Crafts. Die: Spellbinders Shapeabilities (Persian Motifs). Adhesive: Xyron (Mega Runner).
