Project | Travel Album: Hello Messe Frankfurt

A few weeks ago when I was at Scrapbook Expo in Schaumburg, IL, I had the opportunity to visit the Becky Higgins Project Life booth at the show. The booth was selling several kits that hadn’t really even been announced yet, let alone hit stores. I was thrilled to discover one of them was a new kit called Everyday by Liz Tamanaha (aka Paislee Press), who designed the Midnight core kit that I love!

I was about to start scrapbooking the Creativeworld trade show portion of my Frankfurt album, and the expanses of white and bold black text with pops of color would be the perfect match for the aesthetic of Messe Frankfurt. I couldn’t snatch it up fast enough!

These first two pages about the trade show are aimed at showcasing the glass and white walled beauty of Messe Frankfurt and explaining how huge it is. (For more about the trade show, check out my past articles on Creativeworld!) Continue Reading →

CHA Mega Show 2015 | Scrapbook Travel Products

With all of the travel that I’ve been doing lately, I have travel scrapbooking on the brain! I will need a steady supply of scrapbook travel products to scrap all of the pictures of the places I’ve been flying off to (and will be going to in the near future). Luckily for me, scrapbook manufacturers are back in the business of producing travel themed items again after taking a short break during the economic downturn. There were plenty of travel product options on show at the CHA Mega Show 2015!

Templates have become go-to products for many scrapbookers with the rise of mixed media, and The Crafter’s Workshop has several new templates that are especially handy for pocket scrapbookers. Good Eats and Radar Fragment are perfect for making custom pocket cards!

CHA Mega Show 2014 | Scrapbook Update Top Ten Hot Picks

It’s that time again – time to name the hottest brands from the CHA Mega Show 2014 in Anaheim last month!

This time around, several themes seemed to emerge as I assembled the list, themes that were evident in the show in general. Most notable perhaps was the large influx of truly quality new exhibitors, a group of which the show hasn’t seen like this in years. Another recurring theme, that was evident again and again on the show floor, was of companies who have remade themselves after challenges the past few years and are rising again creatively. Together, these two phenomena combined to lend an air of positivity and optimism to the show.

So, without further ado…here’s the Scrapbook Update Top Ten Hot Picks from the CHA Mega Show!

Brother Scan-n-Cut

Brother Scan-n-Cut

This machine has been taking the crafting world by storm in 2014, winning first the Innovations award at the CHA Mega Show and then Tool of the Year at Creativeworld in Frankfurt less than two weeks later. Scan-N-Cut enters a crowded, competitive market for digital diecutting that already featured at least four major competitors duking it out, but the machine’s unique ability to cut whatever it sees on a piece of paper is garnering it a closer look from crafters.
