More Merry & Bright / Deck the Halls Kit Layouts!

I’ve been having so much fun with my Merry & Bright and Deck the Halls kit picks, and today I have two more layouts to share with you made with this selection of products!

Even though these two pages use the same product set, they each have a very different feel to them. The page below, featuring photos of festive store window displays at a local outdoor shopping center, has a calm and simple vibe to it. I added a few splatters of Studio Calico’s Calico White Mister Huey – a perfect complement to these product picks!

Kit | Merry and Bright by Melissa

We’re getting into the Christmas spirit a bit early here at Scrapbook Update! This month’s Scrapbook Update kit, Merry and Bright, is filled to the brim with festive colors and motifs that will be perfect for scrapping all your winter and Christmas memories. In fact, I designed this kit to be used for either layouts or for a December Daily or Journal Your Christmas mini album. There are enough papers, alphabets, and sparkly baubles in this kit to keep you scrapping all December long, and while a few of the items are strictly Christmas themed, I kept the majority of the kit generic enough to be used for a variety of subjects.

The papers are a selection of Crate Paper Peppermint, Echo Park Season’s Greetings, and Studio Calico Classic Calico that blend bright pops of seasonal colors with sophisticated grays and grounding woodgrains for a fun, cozy feel.

Speaking of the papers, the main kit photo above only tells half the story about them as all of these sheets have lovely prints on their B-sides, as well. Continue Reading →

Kit | Autumn Sunlight

Every year I find myself trying to hold on to every last scrap of summer while at the same time easing into fall, and this month’s kit at Scrapbook Update, Autumn Sunlight, was inspired by the bright, fun, happy times that are experienced when trying to cram every conceivable warm-weather excursion into a single month before chilly temperatures prevail.

I chose sunny yellow and deep turquoise as base colors, then built on those with pops of coral using some of the latest papers from My Mind’s Eye, Echo Park, Crate Paper, and Cosmo Cricket for a kit that’s part summer and part fall, making it useful for so many different layout themes. Kit | Plum Crazy For Fall

It’s no secret that fall is my favorite season, so I was happy to create this kit for Scrapbook Update inspired by my favorite hot shade for fall: Plum! Today I’m going to share with you images of the kit I’ve created full of beautiful warm fall colors as well as a layout created with it.

First, here’s a peek at the kit:

The kit has lots of brand new Studio Calico and Amy Tangerine for American Crafts, along with lovely bits from Jillibean Soup and My Mind’s Eye as well.

I used several of the papers, as well as the alphabet stickers, mist, and so much more on this layout. My photos are all 4×6, and thanks to the pre-stitched patterned paper I used as a base this page came together quickly. Continue Reading →

Kit | Back To School by May

[Editor's Note: Welcome to a new regular feature here at Scrapbook Update! Every 4-6 weeks, our creative staff will be assembling a kit to share with you, and showing you what they have done with their own design. We hope you enjoy this new feature that shares the talents of our staff in a new way.]

It’s a wonderful time of year, and I find myself so inspired to create in the little time I have carved out for myself and my scrapbooking during the days filled with school activities, soccer, and getting out of a summer lazy routine! Today I have my Back to School kit to share with you:

Red and yellow are the colors that come to mind when I think of Back to School scrapbooking, and I kept that in mind as I added additional colors and unusual twists to that classic combo in my Back to School papercrafting kit. My inspiration was to gather some papers and a few other details that I could grab and use to quickly scrapbook my September and the beginning of a new school year with ease.

I kept things simple, mixing up products from a wide variety of brands. I love the possibilities I see with these goodies! I did not intend for this to be a kit where I use products only from the kit . This kit is a foundation. I intend to build on it, to add products and details from my own stash as needed for my projects. My real goal is to use it to leap out of my summer routine and hop back into more crafting!

What kit is complete without “add-ons” to play with? Here’s some additional items I suggest that would coordinate well with my Back to School kit:
