What a fun way to say I Love You! Designer Corri Garza combined a bright fun color scheme – pink, white and black – with some trendy embellishments to send her message. Sometimes you don’t need a whole sentiment to get a message across. On this card, one single word says everything necessary!

The three pearls on the top left help, although small, balance out the visual weight of the Scrabble tiles on the lower right. And repeated elements can help tie a design together – the lace echoes the scallop around the heart die cut.

Supplies |  Cardstock: Recollections by Michaels. Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee (Secret Crush). Ink: Ranger TIm Holtz Distress (Worn Lipstick, Soot). Pearls: Kaisercraft. Cut File: Lori Whitlock (Scallop Heart). Other: lace & Scrabble tiles (unknown).

Designer: Corri Garza

Corri began paper crafting in 2009 when she purchased a Cricut at a Black Friday sale. She started following some blogs and immediately fell in love with card making. Recently, she added a Silhouette Cameo to her craft room and she loves working with die cuts to create cards, gift boxes and altered items. Corri lives just outside San Antonio, Texas with her husband and three kids. When she’s not in her craft room, she is watching her twins playing sports. They are involved in volleyball, baseball and softball, so there is always a game to watch!  Corri also enjoys photography, especially taking nature photos. Wow, it’s been a big week for news this week, huh? Of course (in case you missed it), there was the announcement of the impending closure Scrapbooks Etc. magazine. Studio Calico announced a new line this week called “Hey Day”:

The line also includes a huge assortment of embellishments – including mistable Thickers and shapes, wood veneer shapes, and an assortment of Thickers, diecuts and other stickers. There’s also new Mr. Huey’s mists and a template. You can check out the whole collection on the Studio Calico blog. I have to admit – I usually despise anything orange (or tangerine) but this collection has such beautiful color combinations and patterns that I cannot wait to try it out. Way to go Studio Calico  – you’ve made an orange out of me! Continue Reading →
