Cards | Made with LOVE for Friends

Hi All… Card Annex Designer Deena Ziegler here to bring you some card inspiration today.

This week I got a couple uninterrupted hours to get creative in my craft room. I set out to create one “friendship” card for my post today, but, that turned in to a run away session of cutting, gluing and making a huge mess. I was in love with the super cute – just my style – papers from Bella Blvd that were sent to me last week. I love when all the creative planets align and designing projects I love becomes so easy!

While the Bella Blvd “Love and Marriage” line was meant to be for weddings, I think it’s also well suited for all girly occasions.

For this little 4×4 card, I layered up several layers of patterned paper and topped it off with a Thinlit die from Sizzix, called “For the Record 2 – Documented” from the new Echo Park collection. The sticker letters are so tiny and adorable, I love well designed products like these.

Cards | Thinking of You

We finish off today with Card Annex team designer Yana Smakula. She brings you this hello that is full of sunshine (something we haven’t seen all week here in the so-called “sunshine state”) with help from some fabulous Pebbles products!

I fell in love with the Pebbles Basics Pads the moment I saw them, and patterns like this yellow chevron are the reason why! They are so quick and easy – just grab a sheet and fold it to make a card! Continue Reading →

Cards | Hello

card-annex-02-22

Susie Moore is back again today with a digital card of a different kind this time! This time she’s showing us some more of her work with one of her favorite cardmaking tools – digital stamps. Susie shows time and again how a great digital image, a workhorse die, and some fun patterned paper can make a wonderful greeting!

The twine is a great touch with this image – the fiber texture makes it extra easy to almost “feel” the sock monkey in the digital image. The line provided by the twine also “grounds” the monkey because it provides something visually for him to appear to be standing on.

Supplies | Patterned Paper: Pebbles. Cardstock: PaperTrey Ink. Digital Image: Bugaboo Stamps. Twine: The Twinery. Dies: Spellbinders. Brad: American Crafts (Gold Sparkle).

Designer: Susie Moore

Susie Cannon Moore is married to her soulmate Randall, and between them they have five grown children – four boys and one girl – and five wonderful grandchildren. They live in a small country town called Maypearl, Texas. Susie has been paper crafting all her life, but started scrapbooking seriously in 1998. She  has been published in Paper Crafts and Just Steampunk, and also have been on HGTVʼ’s Crafterʼ’s Coast to Coast. Susie loves to scrapbook her family, and do mini books (mostly as gifts). Card making is also a passion she has embraced for years. As a computer nerd, she especially enjoys using digis. In May of 2011, Susie, who has been a dieaholic from the early Sizzix days, started a website devoted to crafting with dies. You can visit her website at The Dies Have It.

Cards | Be Your Own Kind Of Beautiful

Today we have designer Carrie Walz joining us! Her exuberant card shows us a great example of letting pattern be the focus of your card’s design.

Carrie made the pattern the focus of this design in two ways. First, she picked something bold to work with. The black and white polka dot is a bold graphic, and the high contrast color scheme draws even more attention to it.

Second, by repeating the same pattern in several design elements – the paper, and the ribbon – Carrie placed more focus on it and made the design more cohesive. The inclusion of several circular elements like the stick pins and bling also echoed the polka dots and emphasized the design theme.

Supplies | Card: American Crafts. Patterned Paper: Pebbles (Basics Cardmaking Pad 2). Sticker: Pebbles (Walnut Grove Masking Tape stickers). Ribbon: May Arts. Bling: Bella!

Designer: Carrie Walz

Carrie Walz is a stay at home mom of two wonderful children who are the inspiration for her scrapbooking. She is currently designing for Ruby Rock-It, We R Memory Keepers and Paper Issues. She has been scrapbooking for many years and loves seeing the world a different way from the art of scrapbooking and cardmaking, and loves seeing the joy in peoples’ eyes when they receive a handmade card or when they are turning the pages of her scrapbooks.
