Silhouette Promo | Easter Candy Bags & Boxes

Today I’m bringing you two of my favorite things together – Easter candy and a Silhouette promo – along with another favorite of mine, the Silhouette cut files of designer Lori Whitlock! She designed both of the candy container templates I used for these projects.

These fun containers make a great way to share a sweet treat with someone, and can be adapted for any holiday with themed supplies. I used my Silhouette’s Print & Cut feature, along with some themed print & cut files, to make these festive for Easter.

CHA Summer 2013 | Hot Pick: Echo Park & Carta Bella

It’s time to finish out Scrapbook Update’s CHA Top Ten Hot Picks list!

To see all the hot picks posted so far, visit this link. I’ll also publish a summary list for easy reference after this article goes up.

So here, last but not least, is the final hot pick for CHA Summer 2013 (aka Create-n-Connect)…

As time passes after a show, you get perspective on what you saw on the show floor. The reality distortion field fades, the blinding glare of “shiny and new” goes away, and you start to look with a more practical eye at what you’ve seen.

It’s under that practical gaze, the one that looks at what is eminently usable from the new products as you are filling your own shopping cart, that the CHA Summer 2013 products from sister companies Echo Park and Carta Bella stand out.

So let’s start with the Echo Park offerings…

First up, Echo Park added to their collection of Mini Themes, with several more designs in the bright and cheery style they are known for:

Cards | Happy Mother’s Day

Today, we’re making a big announcement for National Scrapbook Day!

Please welcome to Scrapbook Update the Card Annex design team! The Card Annex team was founded late last year as part of another Nally Studios property, and is now taking up permanent residence at Scrapbook Update to strengthen our creative offerings here.

Our ten card designers will be bringing you content several times per week to highlight products and teach techniques. Today, you’ll be getting their first three posts for Scrapbook Update, but if you would like to see more, you can visit the Card Annex archives on our site.

First up today, Scrapbook Update’s Card Annex team designer Corri Garza is bringing us a card featuring the products of designer Lori Whitlock, but from two different companies!

The beautiful pink papers on this card are from the Valentine’s Day collection called “Love Story” that Lori designed for Echo Park Paper Company. Who said that you have to put away your seasonal products when the season is over? Lori’s beautiful feminine pink designs in “Love Story” are perfect for Mother’s Day, and would also do well for other occasions like birthdays and baby girls.

Technique Tuesday | Hi

IMG_5482flowerpot IMG_5484flowerpot2

Ready for some more Technique Tuesday fun? Today, designer Corri Garza brings us a fun card for everyday notes, with a trendy twist!

Flair is a trendy embellishment right now and the new “With Flair” stamp set from Technique Tuesday means that you can have an endless supply of it in any color and design. This set is perfect for card making and for Project Life! For today’s card, Corri stamped the “hi” flair on white in a shade of blue ink that coordinated with her patterned paper.

Corri’s card has another fun feature – it is actually a two part die-cut with a removable flower pot that can hide your greeting! The multi-part digital cutting file for Silhouette by Lori Whitlock has a few pieces to assemble, but the finished product is fun, fun, fun!

Supplies | Stamps: Technique Tuesday (With Flair). Ink: Ranger Tim Holtz Distress (Faded Jeans). Patterned Paper: American Crafts Dear Lizzy “Lucky Charm” (Starlight, Wild Hearts, Stargazers, Float Away, Dreamcatcher). Button: October Afternoon (Cakewalk). Twine: The Twinery (Strawberry). Hemp Cord: Hemptique. Digital Cutting Files: Silhouette (Card Kit Flower Pot by Lori Whitlock, 6 Bracket Labels with Shadow by Lori Whitlock).

Designer: Corri Garza

Corri began paper crafting in 2009 when she purchased a Cricut at a Black Friday sale. She started following some blogs and immediately fell in love with card making. Recently, she added a Silhouette Cameo to her craft room and she loves working with die cuts to create cards, gift boxes and altered items. Corri lives just outside San Antonio, Texas with her husband and three kids. When she’s not in her craft room, she is watching her twins playing sports. They are involved in volleyball, baseball and softball, so there is always a game to watch!  Corri also enjoys photography, especially taking nature photos. IMG_4979LOVE

What a fun way to say I Love You! Designer Corri Garza combined a bright fun color scheme – pink, white and black – with some trendy embellishments to send her message. Sometimes you don’t need a whole sentiment to get a message across. On this card, one single word says everything necessary!

The three pearls on the top left help, although small, balance out the visual weight of the Scrabble tiles on the lower right. And repeated elements can help tie a design together – the lace echoes the scallop around the heart die cut.

Supplies |  Cardstock: Recollections by Michaels. Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee (Secret Crush). Ink: Ranger TIm Holtz Distress (Worn Lipstick, Soot). Pearls: Kaisercraft. Cut File: Lori Whitlock (Scallop Heart). Other: lace & Scrabble tiles (unknown).
