American Crafts | A Laugh Is A Smile…

Welcome back to our feature week for the American Crafts family of brands on Card Annex!

The Lucky Charm Die Cut Cards by Dear Lizzy sure are popular with our card designers here at Card Annex! (In case you missed it, check out Susie Moore’s card from earlier in the week!) And it’s easy to see why – designer Kathy Martin’s card comes together so quickly with the die cut card as the base for it!

Pre-made embellishments are a great shortcut for making quick cards. Pebbles is one of my personal favorite brands to reach for to do this. They have a seemingly never-ending supply of fabulous layered elements like this 3D flower element from the Walnut Grove collection, or the flower used by Sharon Callis on her “thank you” card. I know when I’m stuck that I can almost always find the perfect element for a card in my Pebbles stash!

The mini Remarks chevron stickers are small by themselves, but grouped together they make a heavier element that balances out the large 3D element and directs the eye to it. The rest of the card’s coloring is fairly neutral, so the bright color pop of the stickers doesn’t clash.

Supplies | Die Cut: American Crafts “Dear Lizzy” (Lucky Charm Die Cut Cards). Flowers: Pebbles “Walnut Grove” (3D Flowers). Stickers: American Crafts Amy Tangerine “Yes Please” Matte Puffy Stickers.

Technique Tuesday | I Heart You

And we had one more project hiding, so here’s a bonus day of Technique Tuesday feature week for you! Designer Kathy Martin worked with the I Love You Seal stamp set from the Signed, Sealed, Delivered series of stamps.

Technique-Tuesday-I-Love-You-Seal

Signed, Sealed, Delivered consists of 13 seal designs and two Seal Companion sets that they can be assembled with to turn them into ribbon badges. The seals are great on their own, as Kathy shows here, or assembled into the ribbons.

Kathy made her stamped image appear to be a coordinated embellishment of the paper collection she used by stamping the image right onto one of the patterned papers. And speaking of embellishments – did you notice the blue card with the frame in it? It’s part of a sheet of patterned paper from the Chilled Cucumber Soup collection that has 3×4 cards on one side of it.

Supplies | Stamps: Technique Tuesday (I Love You Seal). Patterned Papers: Jillibean Soup (Chilled Cucumber Soup). Button: Prima. Jute: May Arts. Pearls: My Mind’s Eye.

Smile…Girls Rock

This explosion of color will be sure to put a smile on any young girl’s face! Designer Kathy Martin used the brand new “My Girl” collection from My Mind’s Eye to craft a cheery greeting that is great for a multitude of occasions.

Kathy’s card shows how quickly and beautifully a design can come together with coordinated elements and pre-made embellishments. Since all her major elements are from the “My Girl” collection, they are guaranteed to work together perfectly. The layered stickers make for quick embellishing of the design, but their layers make them appear anything but simple.

Supplies | Patterned Paper: My Mind’s Eye “My Girl” (Genuine, Playful, Rainbow). Stickers: My Mind’s Eye (My Girl Layered). Baker’s Twine: Doodlebug Design (Beetle Black). Clothespin: Canvas Corp. Button: Fancy Pants (Mingled).

Thank You So Much

130220-Thank-You-Details

Wow, check out all the detail in this card by designer Kathy Martin! Kathy created a mini-collage using a variety of elements from her scrap supply stash. A design like this is perfect for using “leftovers” from other projects – a stray brad or button, a few strips of washi tape, a paper clip. A little ink sprayed across the finished piece makes the random pieces look tied together.

Also, can you find the visual triangle? Take a closer look at the brad, the button and the tiniest of the tags…see how they line up? They make a perfect triangle that frames the focal point sentiment!
Supplies | Cardstock: Neenah Paper (White). Patterned Paper: Unknown. Tags: unknown (white, manilla). Brad: Crate Paper. Button: Crate Paper. Tape: Bella Blvd. Wood  Accent: Studio Calico. Mini Paper Clip: Tim Holtz idea-ology. Jute: May Arts. Ink: unknown.

Dearest

130211-Dearest

Wondering what to do with those leftover Valentine’s Day supplies now that the holiday is over? Designer Kathy Martin shows us today that you can use them any day of the year that share a message of love with someone special!

Baker’s twine makes a great way to attach a charm to a card!

A bit of stitching can add interest to a collage of stickers – and help hold the elements down.  Layering these elements in a dimensional way adds a whole new level of interest over simply adhering them down flat!

Supplies | Cardstock: Neenah Paper (white). Patterned Paper: Doodlebug Design (Lovebird Collection). Stickers: Doodlebug Design – Lovebird (This and That, Icons). Charm: Frost Creek Charms (key).
