CHA Winter 2012 | May’s Early Picks

I love this time of year, when new products, partnerships, and lines are announced, revealed, and otherwise unveiled to us. The weeks before CHA always make me excited to check blogs and watch the Scrapbook Update sneak peek page for items I’d missed. While I believe the real pre-show madness and peeks will truly get going this week, there are some strong offerings that have already been shown, and today I am here to share my top early picks.

Rhonna Farrer for My Minds Eye

At the very top of my list is a new partnership and lines that I am very eager to have. Rhonna Farrer has partnered with My Minds Eye to bring us her creative brilliance in a whole new way. With papers and amazingly detailed embellishments, Follow Your Heart by Rhonna Farrer is sure to be one of the show’s major hits.

There are two color schemes in the collection –  ”Be Happy” and “Be Amazing.” As a long time fan of her work, I am very excited to see her designs staying in the paper realm. Many of these designs would work wonderfully with her existing digital designs available at www.rhonnadesigns.com. [Read more...]

Noteworthy | 12.16.2011

Inspiration is coming in 2012 – that much is clear from this week’s noteworthy stories. It is exciting to see that so many new opportunities for learning and being inspired are coming! I’m feeling confident that 2012 is going to be a very creative year. Lots of new classes are being announced, and news of a designer book series was revealed this week as well. Here are this week’s stories:

When the holiday dust clears and January is upon us, wouldn’t it be nice to have some inspiration from a great group of creative women? Nathalie Kalbach announced “Creative Jump Start Summit 2012″ , a free event coming in January:

We are coming together to tell you how we get back into the creative groove and how we get our creative juices flowing. We want to share with you to help you jump start your creativity in 2012.

Video | The Crafter’s Workshop Templates

[Editor's Note: Working with templates is hot hot hot right now in papercrafting, and who better to bring Scrapbook Update readers a tutorial on how to work with them than the designer of the hottest line of templates in the industry - Julie Fei-Fan Balzer! Many thanks to Julie for sharing her expertise with us!]

When May Flaum asked me to contribute a technique to her book, Scrapbook Workshop: The Best Techniques From Your Favorite Scrapbook Bloggers, I was incredibly flattered and then incredibly scared.  I wanted to pick the absolute perfect technique that was going to be simply the most amazing thing in the whole world.  Well, May gave me some good advice: She told me not to overcomplicate it and just do what came naturally to me.
