The CHA Winter 2012 Sneak Peeks Page Is Heating Up!

Have you checked out the Scrapbook Update CHA Winter 2012 Sneak Peeks page lately? The Scrapbook Update staff has been hard at work scouring the internet to bring you the latest in new product releases and sneak peeks during this busy season, and I’ve been busily entering them into a single table to make it easy for our readers to stay updated on the latest and greatest from all your favorite manufacturers. The page just passed 100 links in the table and is growing quickly!!

If you’re not familiar with the Sneak Peeks page, you can find it here, and we’ve worked hard to make it as easy as possible for you to find the information you need quickly. Want to see what’s been posted since your last visit? Click on the “Updated” column header to sort peeks by the date they were entered. Want to see the new releases from your favorite manufacturer? Just sort by “Company.” And if you’re headed to the CHA show in Anaheim (in less than two weeks!), we also have a “Booth” column to help you plan your trip.

Be sure to visit the page often as updates are made several times per day. Believe it or not, all the current updates were made during the calmer part of release season. This week and next are going to be hopping as we start to see more input from manufacturers that have been keeping things under wraps. American Crafts (including Crate Paper and Studio Calico), Bella Blvd., and Basic Grey are just a few of the companies that are keeping their new releases quiet until the show date is a little closer.

If you haven’t visited the Sneak Peeks page lately (or at all), here’s a look at some of the new releases you’re missing out on: Continue Reading →

The scrapbook world is preparing for the holidays this week it seems. Now I know that might seem extreme to some, but when we’re talking about providing ideas, inspiration, and helping to get ready to tackle holiday projects as crafters we do need all the time we can get! Of course, despite my love of the holiday season, I have more than just holiday spirit to share in this week’s Noteworthy column:

When looking through this week’s potential noteworthy stories, one name popped up three times. I’d say that is not only noteworthy, but lead off the week worthy! Ali Edwards is having a great week – and fans should be rejoicing. First she announced a brand new downloadable class available on her website called Storyology:

Topics covered during the almost 2-hour presentation include the reason why, getting ready to write, story mechanics, rhythms, etc. The class includes six different writing prompts and you are encouraged to take the time during the presentation to write your responses to those prompts (pause the video and then resume when you are ready).

Class includes a 7-page full-color PDF handout, plus 6 pages for responding to the writing prompts.

The class can be purchased here (cost $14). Continue Reading →

The big happening this week is in Minnesota, where there are more of the craft industry glitterati (and ink-eratti?) gathering to teach, work at, or attend Archiver’s ScrapFest than you’ll see outside CHA. In fact, ScrapFest may arguably be the biggest consumer craft event happening in the United States this year. If you’re in the area – watch for your favorite craft personalities. Between ScrapFest and The Creative Connection event, the Twin Cities are crawling with crafters and industry leaders!

For those of us not at this weekend’s event, we have plenty to be excited about and check out. Here are this week’s noteworthy stories:

Tim Holtz announced that he has worked with Ranger on releasing a limited edition set of seasonal distress inks. The set of three fall colors (ripe persimmon, gathered twigs, and seedless preserves) will be sold together as a stacked set. Continue Reading →
