I’ve Bean Missing You!

Missing You

Sometimes all it takes for a great card is the perfect die cut to go with a fun sentiment stamp! Designer Corri Garza used a My Mind’s Eye 6″x6″ paper pad to create a wonderfully coordinated splash of pattern on this fun card. It might be tempting to use shades of brown and black with a coffee-themed stamp and a coffee cup die cut, but the bright graphic patterns give a much happier tone to the card and its sentiment. The key is to mix the colors and size of the patterned paper. Corri contrasted the bold plaid with a more subtle geometric patterned paper.

Corri began paper crafting in 2009 when she purchased a Cricut at a Black Friday sale. She started following some blogs and immediately fell in love with card making. Recently, she added a Silhouette Cameo to her craft room and she loves working with die cuts to create cards, gift boxes and altered items. Corri lives just outside San Antonio, Texas with her husband and three kids. When she’s not in her craft room, she is watching her twins playing sports. They are involved in volleyball, baseball and softball, so there is always a game to watch!  Corri also enjoys photography, especially taking nature photos. You Knock My Socks Off!

You Knock My Socks Off card

This card from designer Corri Garza really shows the value of thinking outside the box with your dies and digital cutting files!

Corri’s design has a really offbeat take on a love theme, which is unique in itself, but if you look hard at her supply list you see another twist. The socks that make up the central themed element for the card come from a Silhouette digital cutting file called “Christmas Stockings” by Sophie Gallo. It looks like this:

Christmas Stockings

Take the sock on the left, leave off the top cuff and the snowflake, and use some non-seasonal colors…and you’ve got a pair of socks good for any occasion!  What occasion could you use a good pair of socks for?

Supplies | Cardstock: Georgia Pacific (white). Patterned Paper: Echo Park Paper (Love Story). Ribbon: Really Reasonable Ribbon (Diamond Stain Metal Grey). Ink: Tsukineko Staz-On (Jet Black). Rhinestones: Recollections by Michaels. Electronic Die Cutting Machine: Silhouette Cameo. Digital Cutting Files: Silhouette (Christmas Stockings, 5 Bracket Labels with Shadows).
