Welcome back to our American Crafts feature week! This lovely card is by Card Annex designer Evgenia Petzer, featuring a wide variety of American Crafts in her signature layering style.

It’s interesting to note the selection of collections that Evgenia has pulled from to create this card. She’s combined supplies from Amy Tangerine, Crate Paper, Pebbles, and Dear Lizzy – all of whom have very distinct signature styles that would not be considered naturally compatible at first glance. But by carefully picking and choosing specific elements, and centering on a color scheme, Evgenia has melded these very different items into a cohesive creation.

Evgenia’s eye for detail is always evident in her designs – even in finding supplies that others might throw away and turning them into beautiful pieces of her design!

When looking at the wonderful cut off strips of American Craft brand papers I can never throw them away, as they can give you some really nice extra touches. Like on this card – the sentiment hello and the mail stripe in the left of the card are these cut offs.

I really love to make cards and often compare it to puzzle making. I just absolutely love the moment when all the pieces come together in a way that makes my eye happy! In this card I also incorporated lots of little bits and pieces, and really hope you will enjoy it!

Designer: Evgenia Petzer

Evgenia Petzer is from Russia. She describes South Africa, where she moved about 2 years ago, as “the most beautiful country that I have ever seen” where she can enjoy the sun almost every day. Evgenia has a 4 year old son, that is her inspiration. She started as a scrapbooker, but now mainly creates cards in her signature  detailed, romantic style. Currently, Evgenia designs for Melissa Frances, Tattered Angels, Bo Bunny Designs, OUAS blog and a SOE kit club, and also works part time as a child & family photographer. Thank You So Much

Wow, check out all the detail in this card by designer Kathy Martin! Kathy created a mini-collage using a variety of elements from her scrap supply stash. A design like this is perfect for using “leftovers” from other projects – a stray brad or button, a few strips of washi tape, a paper clip. A little ink sprayed across the finished piece makes the random pieces look tied together.

Also, can you find the visual triangle? Take a closer look at the brad, the button and the tiniest of the tags…see how they line up? They make a perfect triangle that frames the focal point sentiment!
Supplies | Cardstock: Neenah Paper (White). Patterned Paper: Unknown. Tags: unknown (white, manilla). Brad: Crate Paper. Button: Crate Paper. Tape: Bella Blvd. Wood  Accent: Studio Calico. Mini Paper Clip: Tim Holtz idea-ology. Jute: May Arts. Ink: unknown.

Designer: Kathy Martin

Kathy Martin resides in North Carolina with her husband Dan and her son Christopher. She’s been paper crafting since 2001, and is currently on design teams for Bella Blvd, Doodlebug Designs, Love My Tapes, and Pebbles. When she’s not playing with paper she enjoys reading, cooking, baking, antiquing, crochet and cat naps. Read more about Kathy on her blog, Card-Blanc.

So Sweet Baby Girl

feb1_petzer

When you are delivering a card in person and don’t have to worry about fitting it in an envelope and mailing it, you can really get creative – and dimensional! Designer Evgenia Petzer likes to add details to her cards, and this one has a lot of them hiding in her collage of embellishments.

The little bottle filled with beads mimics a baby rattle. The various layers of paper background are held in place (or appear to be, at least) by several different kinds of stitching. Gesso was used on one of the buttons to create a textured faux finish. And the distressed edges of the background papers adds just a bit of character to the whole arrangement.

Collage isn’t just for wall hangings or layouts…take it out for a try on a card!

Supplies | Patterned Paper: Crate Paper (Little Bo Peep). Chipboard: Crate Paper (Little Bo Peep). Brads: Crate Paper (Little Bo Peep). Buttons: unknown. Beads: unknown. Felt: Papertrey Ink. Dies: Papertrey Ink (hearts, Parisian Doily). Glass Bottle: Melissa Frances. Rhinestones: Bo Bunny (Isabella). Other: Ranger Claudine Hellmuth Studio (White Gesso).
