CHA Summer 2013 | Hot Pick: The Crafter’s Workshop

Welcome to Scrapbook Update’s CHA Top Ten Hot Picks list!

So here, in no particular order, is the next hot pick for CHA Summer 2013 (aka Create-n-Connect)…

Like the previous pick (Lawn Fawn), this is another company that grabbed this honor for their continued upward motion in the market and for showing increasing signs of being a mature company with a completely solid offering and development program.

The Crafter’s Workshop now has a stable slate of four big-name signature designers, and their efforts for CHA Summer 2013 showed how all these names mesh together, complementing each other without really competing.

Ronda Palazzari’s new stencils really stood out because of the nature of their design. Her style I’d describe as outgoing, in contrast to Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, whose style is more introspective. This distinction is reflective of their backgrounds, with Ronda’s work focused more on layouts that cater more to an audience, and Julie’s more focused on art journaling (which to most is private and personal).

These stencils of Ronda’s have multiple designs on them, making them quite versatile:

One of the things I look for when I look for CHA Hot Picks is companies that are on an upward trajectory in growth and popularity. Lawn Fawn, at a little over 3 years old, is definitely on a skyward trajectory of both.

CHA Summer 2013 | Hot Pick: Pink Paislee

This time around I’m doing something a bit different with the CHA Hot Pick list. Instead of giving the ten Hot Picks to my readers in one huge overwhelming chunk, I’m going to give you one pick per article for each of the ten picks. At the end, I’ll publish a summary list for easy reference of all ten. This will allow me to bring you more information about each of the Hot Picks, and also bring them to you faster!

Pink Paislee

Pink Paislee has long been a favorite of scrapbookers, but they were out on a limb a bit at the summer 2013 show, with a new look that tries to keep the company relevant with changing consumer tastes. As with everything the company has done, the change of design direction was superbly executed.

The company’s previous style was heavily vintage, but their new look is more modern and graphic.

Up first is “Hey Kid,” a bright happy collection full of hip elements like moustaches, glasses, and chevrons:

CHA Summer 2013 | Twelve Timbers

At each show, there is usually one neat surprise that you don’t expect to see that really gets you thinking about some great creative projects. For me, at the Create-n-Connect show in Las Vegas, that booth was Twelve Timbers.

Twelve Timbers was a new exhibitor at the show who specializes in wood wall art. Their pre-finished pieces made me want to redecorate every wall of my house!
