So here, last but not least, is the final hot pick for CHA Summer 2013 (aka Create-n-Connect)…

As time passes after a show, you get perspective on what you saw on the show floor. The reality distortion field fades, the blinding glare of “shiny and new” goes away, and you start to look with a more practical eye at what you’ve seen.

It’s under that practical gaze, the one that looks at what is eminently usable from the new products as you are filling your own shopping cart, that the CHA Summer 2013 products from sister companies Echo Park and Carta Bella stand out.

So let’s start with the Echo Park offerings…

First up, Echo Park added to their collection of Mini Themes, with several more designs in the bright and cheery style they are known for:

CHA Summer 2013 | Hot Pick: Amy Tangerine

So here, in no particular order, is the next hot pick for CHA Summer 2013 (aka Create-n-Connect)…

Amy Tangerine has been one of the hottest brands in the industry since its debut last year. With just one collection per show, Amy has built an iconic signature style and each new release has been eagerly snapped up by her legions of fans. Each collection coordinates with and builds on the previous ones, with an ongoing style thread and variations on the same color palette.

The amazing thing about Amy’s collections are their versatility. The latest collection, called Cut & Paste, has bright colors that make it perfect for back-to-school, everyday scrapbooking, or travel, but with gray undertones that don’t make it look out of place for fall.

Project Life was, admittedly, something of an enigma in Las Vegas. While it seemed to have lost some of the rock star shine of its debut at the previous show, Project Life was still an omnipresent force on the show floor, driving sales not only for its own company but for many others as well.

Despite the lighter crowds in the company’s booth this time around, this release is actually quite a positive and critical step for the company for several reasons.

Compared to Anaheim in January, where founder Becky Higgins debuted the company with a huge set of new core kits, there was relatively few new core kits on display. There was one aimed at the genealogy market called Heritage, along with a new addition to their line of licenses from well-known designers. The bright and doodle-y “Sunshine” Kit is by Elsie and Emma, of A Beautiful Mess. Heritage Kit by Project Life Continue Reading →

CHA Summer 2013 | Hot Pick: Teresa Collins

Welcome back to Scrapbook Update’s CHA Top Ten Hot Picks list!

To see all the hot picks posted so far, visit this link. At the end, after I’ve published all ten of the picks, I’ll publish a summary list for easy reference.

So here, in no particular order, is the next hot pick for CHA Summer 2013 (aka Create-n-Connect)…

Teresa Collins’ unique signature style is well known to industry watchers. She uses vintage style design elements, but arranges them in a more graphic styled way, with a light airy look, bright modern colors, and adding in a few modern elements to the mix. The result is a style that crosses trend lines. As a consequence, Teresa fared well during the massive popularity of vintage, but is still relevant now that graphic is quickly becoming the industry’s dominant design force. Her four lines released at CHA’s summer show in Las Vegas only reinforced her power in the market, along with the expansion of her licensing with her name being put on a machine from Craftwell. (She had previously released licensed embossing folders through the company.)

The first of her four new lines – Family Stories – is a theme that seemed to be everywhere at CHA, but no one does it like Teresa does! Combining floral toile, doilies and antique paper prints with hip elements like male and female icons, with a trendy pink, black, and pale turquoise color palette, Teresa created something that has her signature all over it.

So here, in no particular order, is the next hot pick for CHA Summer 2013 (aka Create-n-Connect)…

We R Memory Keepers is a company that has really stepped up their game the past few years, and consumers have responded. Long known for being a tool and album specialist, the company is finally developing into a quality producer of a broad scale of papercrafting products, and even branching into home decor.

This fold down table and organizer (which has an MSRP of $199 and ships in September) was much-discussed by attendees in Vegas:
