Big Picture Classes: Forever is Gone [Updated]

Big Picture Classes has notified its customers that a huge transition is coming to the company soon, requiring some changes that have drawn the ire of its customer base.

BPC-websiteThe company had indicated when it announced that it had been sold to Studio Calico in August that a new website was in the works for its customers. On Friday, the company shared more information about the website in announcements via email and on their website – and shared for the first time that the new site will not include many of the company’s previous classes. A large number of classes, which were sold to students with the promise of “forever” access, will be retired from Big Picture’s web presence in February, after a transition period during which the company is promising to facilitate the downloading of class materials (both pdf and video content) for students. Digital Trend | Project Life Journaling Cards

The digi stores are absolutely bursting with new Project Life journaling cards in both 3×4 and 4×6 sizes. Let’s go take a look at some of the newest ones I’ve found! They are so numerous I will probably be back with even more in the next week or so.

Designer Digitals

At Designer Digitals, Katie Pertiet, Ali Edwards and Cathy Zielske all have brand-new journal cards. Katie’s two sets include a fun and bright set of eight travel-themed cards and a gorgeous krafty set of weekly journalers. Cathy’s cards feature grids and diagonals and phrases in a mustard/gray color set. Ali’s cards are heart and love themed and some include her signature handwriting.

Big Picture Classes Acquires Ella Publishing

Big Picture Classes announced today that it has acquired ebook publisher Ella Publishing Co..

Ella Publishing was founded in 2009 by former Simple Scrapbooks magazine personalities Lain Ehmann and Angie Lucas. Co-founder/CEO Lain Ehmann departed the company in January 2010 and was replaced as CEO by Co-founder Angie Lucas. Former Simple Scrapbooks staffer Wendy Smedley stepped into a management role at that time as well. Ella Publishing’s library of offerings currently includes 32 ebook titles on scrapbooking and photography, by such well-known industry figures as Stacy Julian, Renee Pearson, Rebecca Cooper, Courtney Walsh and Elizabeth Dillow. Former Simple Scrapbooks graphic designer and personality Cathy Zielske is responsible for the signature “clean and simple” graphic look of Ella Publishing’s line of titles.

Things are picking up again after a post-CHA lull…there’s some really great news and announcements from some big names this week, as well as  some new design team calls and other fun things to check out!

Project Real Life by Becky Higgins

Big Picture Classes is gearing up for a couple of really big events. Registration just opened for Becky Higgins’ upcoming class Project Real Life, which is the 4Experts series class for the 4th quarter of 2012. The class will go in-depth into the philosophy of scrapping and living that is behind the Project Life products.

From Sept. 4th-17th, Big Picture will also be running a free event called Big Idea Festival! Big names like Ali Edwards, Cathy Zielske, May Flaum, and Stacy Julian will each be taking a turn teaching a day of the the Idea Festival. Continue Reading →
