Grab Some Hello Gorgeous for Mother’s Day!

This time of year is always full of pretty floral product releases that are great for girl pages, Mother’s Day cards, and other feminine projects. One of my favorites this year is “Hello Gorgeous” by My Mind’s Eye, a great mix of patterns and pink florals.

Project | Spring Cards with Graphic 45 & Stampendous

[Some products used in this article were generously provided to me by Graphic 45, Stampendous, Ranger, and Buttons Galore. I am the social media manager for Buttons Galore. This is not a sponsored post, and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.]

Spring is well underway here in Florida (well, it’s really almost over). This gave me the urge to play with pretty flowers! And I had just the items in my stash to make some spring cards to satisfy my flower craving – stamps from Stampendous and the Graphic 45 Botanical Tea collection!

This was also an opportunity to play with my Sakura Koi Pocket Field Sketch Box watercolors that I’m obsessed with!

I stamped the flower stamp with a Ranger Archival Ink by Wendy Vecchi called Tree Branch. It’s an orange-y shade of brown that looks almost gold. In an application like this, it adds an almost gilt edge to my flowers.

I did the dark areas of my flower first with my Koi watercolors and a water brush, and then filled in the lighter areas and did some blending with the water brush. Continue Reading →

May Flaum Launches Signature Line with Buttons Galore

Buttons Galore announced today that May Flaum will be partnering with the company to launch a signature line in 2016 called 28 Lilac Lane, to premiere at the CHA Mega Show in January 2016.

Every year at show time, I write at least a handful of stories on Scrapbook Update that start out something like that first paragraph. Sharing stories about designers embarking on new stages in their careers, and bringing exciting new products to scrapbookers in the process, is one of my favorite things to do at Scrapbook Update. But this time is different.

This time, it’s an announcement that I was intimately involved in. May is a friend and former writer for this site, and I have been the social media manager for Buttons Galore since earlier this year. I was involved behind the scenes in the development of this line. This is an announcement that I’m excited to share both personally and professionally. Continue Reading →

Trend | Buttons

It’s hard to call buttons a trend, as they’ve been a staple for many years in scrapbooking. What I will say is that buttons were going new creative places and popping up in all kinds of interesting ways at this CHA show. Today I am going to take a look at some of the exciting new offerings that were seen at CHA.

The photo above is from the Crate Paper booth, a company that is known for their amazingly detailed and beautiful offerings, and they’ve added some new designs into their mix this show as well.

Here are four new fantastic neutral button sets. Clockwise from top left we have Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 for Blossom Bucket, We R Memory Keepers, Jillibean Soup, and Basic Grey. I really like the unique textures and designs of each set, as well as the fact that they are neutral so they will work with any colors. Continue Reading →
