I chose sunny yellow and deep turquoise as base colors, then built on those with pops of coral using some of the latest papers from My Mind’s Eye, Echo Park, Crate Paper, and Cosmo Cricket for a kit that’s part summer and part fall, making it useful for so many different layout themes.

I’ve been scrapping with this kit for the last few weeks and have come up with page themes ranging from birthdays to the state fair. I’ll be sharing those pages on my own blog in the next week or two, but I have a really fun layout to share today, as well.

Recently my husband and I went on a small out-of-town adventure, and by the end of the day we found ourselves unexpectedly making a Craigslist purchase just around the corner from our favorite Mexican restaurant. When choosing colors to match photos of the day, I came up with this fiesta-themed color palette – something I hadn’t even had in mind when designing the kit!

Note that the Teal Woodgrain Teeny Alpha stickers from Glitz Designs that I used aren’t in the kit, but in retrospect they really should be! They would be well-worth considering purchasing as an add-on, as they provide the perfect touch of contrast to the Amy Tangerine Kale Fabric Thickers from American Crafts.

I had layering on the brain when designing this kit, so I selected papers that had strong prints on both the front and back sides, giving an even wider variety of coordinating choices. In fact, many of the sheets were picked on the strength of their “B” side prints, and those papers are reflected in my photo of the kit (and also explains why it’s different from the composite image on Scrapbook.com).

I also kept layering in mind when choosing embellishments. I especially love the way the Cosmo Cricket stickers mix with both the My Mind’s Eye brads and the Crate Paper buttons – there are so many wonderful combinations there just waiting to be explored!

Salt Lake City, Utah-based Prism Papers had been selling the Prismatics collection for five years.

Prism’s signature Prismatic texture will become Bazzill’s 13th cardstock texture offering. Bazzill has purchased Prism’s inventory of the product and will sell Prismatics going forward. A representative for Bazzill tells Scrapbook Update, “We will continue to sell the same fine colors and textures [that] customers are used to purchasing.”

Bazzill will be displaying the Prismatics line in their booth at CHA-Winter 2010 in Anaheim. They will begin shipping the products on February 15th, 2010.

• Bazzill Cardstock: In addition to desperately needed Black and Ivory, I also purchased some of the new trio packs of Bazzill designed to coordinate with Doodlebug Design’s paper line. The colors are bright and cheerful and the criss-cross texture is lovely, different from standard Bazzill.
• BasicGrey: I was thrilled to find a vendor carrying the whole BasicGrey line, including the coordinating fibers, tags and letter stickers. Their new CHA introductions are beautiful! I especially love the Black Tie and Lollipop.
• Heidi Swapp: Advantus is based in Jacksonville so it would have been disappointing to not find their product. Sure enough, Advantus had a booth with a selection of Heidi’s products and I was able to bring home some ghost letters and shapes as well as some rub-on alphabets and themes.
• Michael Miller Memories: This fabric “paper” is absolutely beautiful to look at in person! I limited myself to a few pieces and can’t wait to play with them. The depth and texture of working with such a product offers so many possibilities!
• Foam Stamps: I have been learning more lately about how to work with foam stamps and added Making Memories Misunderstood alphabet to my stamp wardrobe.
• Edge Scraper: A handy little gadget that I was introduced to in my Making Memories classes, the Making Memories edge scraper comes in their Distressing Kit or can be bought individually for about $4. It is essentially a razor blade in a protective shield and handle so that it can be used on the edges of paper without risk of cutting yourself.
• Brads: I can never seem to have enough brads and I added to my stash with some Making Memories ones and some gorgeous Queen & Co. assortments, tiny brads with colorful designs on them.
• Bazzill Stencil Letters: Creek Bank Creation’s Office Werks collection of stencil letters are made from Bazzill paper! I picked up a couple of beautiful colors.
• And of course, Paper! I picked up a wide selection of brand new patterned papers, including some of the latest KI Memories, My Mind’s Eye Wild Asparagus, Junkitz, and Melissa Frances. The lines are very diverse in style but all gorgeous and really inspiring to contemplate working with!

Unfortunately I was unable to find some of the other things on my list, but I still came home with plenty of new fuel for my creative fires!
