Digital Trends | Template Packs

As I’ve mentioned before, I love digital templates. They are so versatile and so helpful when you just want to get a page done quickly. Which, let’s face it, most of us do! But what I really love is when designers offers template packs or bundles – you get so much more “bang for your buck” as the saying goes, and you have multiple templates that usually coordinate. I’ve been seeing more and more template packs this spring so let’s go take a look at some of the newest ones I’ve found!

Pixels & Company

Tiffany Tillman has two beautiful new template packs out at Pixels & Company. The first is a set of six two-page clean and simple layered templates. I absolutely love the look of these templates and the two-page design is fantastic for those of us who like to fit a lot of photos on a layout. Her second set has a clean and simple style again but is just a bit more artsy – it includes four single-page templates.

Pinterest Inspiration | Candle Display

When I was looking through Pinterest earlier this week, I flipped past this photo two or three times. I don’t typically use candles much once the warmer weather hits and it just wasn’t what I was looking for. But I did like the arrangement of the photo and finally decided that, although it might not be something I would typically use for scrapbooking inspiration, maybe I should try it. So come take a look and see what you think.

The candle is an Orange Blossom candle and you can find it at Prize Candle - a company that specializes in soy candles that contain a prize inside the candle. What I liked about this photo was the way the orange, the greenery, and the blossoms all surrounded the candle on a circular holder. The small details just seemed to envelope the focal point and, even though the oranges are much brighter in color than the candle, the placement of them still allows the candle to hold center stage. Gallery Highlights | 5.02.2013

Welcome to another edition of gallery highlights! It’s been a couple of weeks since my last gallery highlights article and I had so much fun this week looking at all the new layouts. Spring has Sprung by sophie crespy

Yes, spring has really sprung here in the midwest and I love Sophie’s layout! She used a pink background and layered a white sheet of circles over the top. The result is just too cute! I really love how she added photos to some of the circles but not all of them and filled others with embellishments or papers. I am definitely going to scraplift this – it’s one of my favorite layouts this year so far!

Digital Trends | Black and More Black

A few weeks ago, I wrote about black being very trendy in the digital world: Digital Trends | Black. Well, this trend is not slowing down. Black is everywhere – even in spring-themed kits – right now. Let’s go take a look at some of the brand-new releases!

Pixels & Company

There are two new kits at Pixels & Company that feature black this week. The “New York State of Mind” kit features multiples pieces of black paper, many black elements and text stickers. The “Peeved” kit includes black papers as well as a bunch of black word art stickers and ribbons.

Introduction to Digital Templates: Part 1

Welcome to a new series all about digital templates – what they are, how to use them, why to use them, and how to adapt them to your style!

So what are digital templates? Think of digital templates the same way you would think of a sketch you might use for a traditional layout. In fact, some templates are really just that – sketches with digital placeholders. When you open these types of templates in your software, all you have are the empty placeholders for photos and paper – you have to add all your own paper and embellishments, as well as journaling and a title. Others come with almost everything done for you – the title, the embellishments and even the paper. All you have to do is add your photos and journaling and you’re done. We’re going to start by looking at these second type of templates because they’re just easier to start with.

Here’s a couple of examples from templates I’ve used recently from Designer Digitals.

In this first layout, I chose to work with the following template. It includes all the elements you see below, including the title, frames, and all of the embellishments.
