Update | 4.18.2014 - Tombow, Craftsy, Crate Paper, Our Daily Bread, more

Spring is coming, and the press releases are suddenly popping up like spring tulips in my inbox! Here's the latest and greatest that is happening around the industry!

American Tombow, popular among many scrapbookers for its Mono Adhesive line and for its markers, has announced that it donated $10,000 in product to the national non-profit Council for Art Education during the recent 2014 National Art Education Association (NAEA) National Convention in San Diego.

The donation was part of Tombow's "100 Days of Tombow" campaign that was launched in March 2013 to mark its centennial year in business by promoting crafts education through the work of 90 art, craft, mommy and scrapbook bloggers.

“100 Days of Tombow was started with the goal to show our gratitude to the arts and crafts community by supporting its art education efforts,” said Jeff Hinn, president of American Tombow. “With great thanks to our blogger participants and the great people at CFAE, we were able to successfully make that promise come to fruition.”

Crate Paper has announced a new mid-release line called "Open Road". The very graphic, retro look is targeted at the spring break and summer road trip market, featuring retro car images, bottlecaps, and triangles (which are rapidly developing as the next big shape trend in the market).

Craftsy, which provides online education to crafters, has issued an update this week to their iOS apps for iPhone and iPad that has an exciting new feature: offline viewing. The new feature allows students to download their classes to their devices for viewing when they are offline, making classes portable and convenient.

Several other new features are offered in the update, including the ability to use AirPlay to view classes on a TV, to slow down or speed up a video, or even to skip a segment that isn't of interest.

"After nearly three years of providing online education designed to help our students succeed, we are excited to expand our offerings to include offline on-the-go learning," said John Levisay, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Craftsy. "As our community continues to thrive, our students have expressed a desire to view their Craftsy classes wherever they are, whether on vacation or on the way to work. Now, students can easily take their videos, notes and class materials anywhere they might go - with or without Internet access. They can even watch their classes seamlessly on a TV using AirPlay."

Also, starting today and going through Monday, save up to 75% off at Craftsy's BIG Easter Sale.

Our Daily Bread Designs, which manufactures Christian & inspirational rubber stamps, dies, and paper, has acquired Artistic Outpost LLC.

Artistic Outpost LLC manufactures vintage-themed rubber stamps, and was founded by owners Robyn & Steven Sharp, and Shelley Carr in 2006.

“When we started the company in 2006, we began with an idea and dream to offer vintage style rubber stamps and to nurture our need for a creative outlet. Eight years later, we can say that we fulfilled our dream and had a ball; however, the time is right to let someone else take the lead to continue to grow our brand,” said Artistic Outpost founder Robyn Sharp.

Kelley Holland, owner and president of Our Daily Bread Designs stated, “I’m very excited about Artistic Outpost, it not only complements our whimsical and vintage North Coast Creations line, but it will be a wonderful addition to the Our Daily Bread Designs family of products. Artistic Outpost will remain exactly as it started, a vintage style rubber stamp company. There will be no changes to AO’s core style, only expansion of the already extensive product line. The vision moving forward with AO will be to add coordinating custom dies, custom vintage paper and new stamps and stamp sets.”
