Scrapbook Soup | Instagram Projects, Part 1 [Giveaway]

Today, in part one of this week’s series on my Scrapbook Soup projects for season 3, I’m going to share a close-up look at my Project Life layout from episode #9, about using Instagram photos, along with some thoughts about it that are not in the segment. (Bonus content!)

You probably recognize the location – it’s Disneyland! During my trip to the Craft & Hobby Association show in January, I actually stayed at Disney’s Paradise Pier hotel, right next door to Downtown Disney, so I got to experience a lot of Disney when I wasn’t at the convention center. The layout is dated with the day that I spent most of at Disneyland, but a few of the pictures of the hotel and Downtown Disney were actually taken on other days.

Disney is such a unreal world anyway – it’s the perfect place to use Instagram and turn your photos into surreal, filtered dreamscapes. You can also use Instagram to improve a photo of something special that was taken under bad lighting conditions. I did this with my night time and indoor shots. It gives a poor shot an “I meant to do that” appearance.

One of my favorite quick Project Life techniques is to make a decorative journaling card by putting washi tape along the edge of a plain Project Life journaling card, or patterned paper cut from a 6×6 paper pad.

I grew up right down the street from Disneyland and have been a “regular” since I was 3!

I’m so glad you got to experience It’s a Small World while you were in Anaheim. It really is special especially with Christmas decorations.

Please don’t enter me in the drawing for the stamp set, I just wanted to pop in and thank you for sharing your layouts and to share a Disney moment! 🙂

    Have a great weekend,

  25. Sue Alger October 10, 2013 at 8:45 am #

  26. Bonnie Rodriguez October 10, 2013 at 8:48 am #

I enjoy seeing all the possibilities with Project Life. I haven’t used this scrapbooking format yet, but my very good friend was telling me about it. I’m a very visual person, so the more I see, the more I understand what can be done. I have never gotten into the Washi tape, but I definitely like the thought of using it on journaling cards. What great ideas you share!

  27. Sue Klein October 10, 2013 at 9:00 am #

Thank you for the giveaway chance! I am loving Project Life right now! Your pages are beautiful.

  30. Connie schoenhofer October 10, 2013 at 10:30 am #

I’m going to start using Projext Life style along with my regular scrapping to use more photos faster! Now just need to figure out Instagram! Good

  41. Laura October 11, 2013 at 12:08 pm #

The Lori Whitlock set goes so well with your Disney pictures! We just recently went to Disney in Florida and loved It’s a Small World there. I don’t know if they do a holiday-decorated revamp down there or not. Looks like you had a great time.

    • Nancy Nally October 11, 2013 at 1:08 pm #

The holiday decorations on Small World are only at Disneyland, which is why I was so excited to get to experience them. I go to DisneyWorld all the time but this was something entirely different, and legendary in the world of Disney park fans!

  42. churchmedialady October 11, 2013 at 12:50 pm #

Love your pictures and would love to win the stamp!!

  43. Theresa October 11, 2013 at 3:03 pm #

Love it! My one question is, what size do you have to print out Instagram photos as? I’ve heard that their quality is better if they are on the smaller size. Is this true?

    • Nancy Nally October 12, 2013 at 8:10 pm #

I’ve done fine printing mine at 4×4 from my iPhone, but you can probably improve the quality printing them smaller (like 3×3).

  44. Sarah Souza October 11, 2013 at 5:52 pm #

Your layouts are awesome! Thanks for the chance to win!

  45. EJ October 12, 2013 at 12:21 am #

Love this stamp & would be so happy if I won this great giveaway

  46. Celeste B. October 12, 2013 at 7:49 am #

I love the big polaroid frame stamp.

  47. Pamela McGillin October 12, 2013 at 10:23 pm #

I agree, a little washi can really dress up a plain journaling card 😀
Really cute stamps, I am positive I could find a home in my scrapbooking area for them. Well almost positive, I might have to move a few things around, but I’m pretty sure…
