Changes at Nally Studios!

Nancy Nally-11

Big changes are happening here at Scrapbook Update and I wanted to share with the site’s loyal readers what exciting things are planned for you!

Scrapbook Update started its life as a site focused on my passion for the news and trends of the scrapbook industry. For the past several years we’ve been bringing you creative consumer content on Scrapbook Update from a variety of wonderful and talented contributors. Sometimes, though, it is a good idea to take a step back from being locked in the day to day grind, and look real hard at where you are and whether it is really where you want to be. After some soul searching and analysis of traffic and survey data, I’ve decided to make some dramatic changes.

Scrapbook Update is going back to its roots.

What does this mean for the readers? The first thing it means is that, except for special events like CHA and maybe an occasional guest post, Scrapbook Update is going back to being a single contributor site. The site will once again become my voice, like it was at its outset.

Unfortunately this means that we had to part ways with our excellent team of contributors: Stephanie Vetne, Tammy Dailor and Ashley Calder. This new direction for Scrapbook Update is in no way a reflection on their wonderful talents, and I hope that you will continue to enjoy them on their own sites.

The second change at Scrapbook Update is that, as I take back the reins of the site as its sole contributor, I’ll also be taking the site back to the roots of its content. You’ll be seeing more news, and more trends – more of what you told us in the recent reader survey that you value most from Scrapbook Update.

We hope that you are as excited as we are about these changes!

While the other contributors have written excellent articles, that’s not why I read Scrapbook Update. Scrapbook Update offers something unique and I’m glad to hear you’re going back to your roots. Best wishes!

Hear, hear! While your design contributors were great, I can get design inspiraiton anywhere. However, your site is pretty much my only source for legal and industry news and that’s what I check in for regularly!

  6. Blayne Whu June 23, 2013 at 10:29 pm #

I, too, like the industry news and enjoy your insights. Thank you, Nancy!

Thank you! The other is fun and I wish your guest bloggers all the best, but I come here for the news I can’t get anywhere else.

  8. Kim Russell June 24, 2013 at 3:19 am #

Thankyou so much to everyone who has had input into this site, and look forward to continuing information

  9. Erika @ Scrapbook Obsession Blog June 24, 2013 at 3:30 am #

I’m very happy to hear this. Industry news has always been my favorite part of your site. I wish all of you well!

  10. Deb June 24, 2013 at 5:39 am #

Congrats Nancy, change its always hard but necessary
To stay on top of the game. You are so informative at the
News and trends of the industry I look forward to your posts

  11. Deb June 24, 2013 at 5:46 am #

Please consider adding some news/opinions about
Camera equipment and photography. I know you have
Lots of info to share on the topic. I always need advice in
    These 2 areas.

    • Nancy Nally June 24, 2013 at 2:42 pm #

I will most certainly do that when I can fit it in! My husband is also an avid (and very talented) photographer so you may see occasional guest posts from him on the topic.

  12. Terri Torrez June 24, 2013 at 6:44 am #

As a consumer and not a professional in the industry, I have to say I’m still glad to hear this news. I agree with the commenter that said we can get inspiration anywhere. I miss the old SU and especially since you’re not on PRT anymore, I miss your unique voice. I look forward to thus new/old direction.

    • vintageplaid June 24, 2013 at 10:00 am #

I fall into the same category as Terri. You are to be commended for making the decisions you have and focusing on your purpose. I heard a wise person say once that we don’t have to do everything but to understand what we do and do it well. Even we consumers are affected by industry events and I appreciate reading about them.

      • vintageplaid June 27, 2013 at 11:49 am #

I have to add one more comment. I am so grateful for your new reporting, Nancy, even about difficult industry news. When you broke the news about Creative Memories filing for bankruptcy, I placed an order to make sure I had enough pages and page protectors that I needed to complete all the albums I already had on hand. By doing that I avoided all the problems people are having now getting orders processed. So a big thank you!

  13. Lezlee June 24, 2013 at 7:49 am #

woo-hoooo! Have noted I come here to read the full article less and less of late. It was a nice attempt but made all realize what a difference YOU make. 😉

  14. Sharon June 24, 2013 at 8:14 am #

Back to your roots is the right place to be. Looking forward to hearing from you more!

  15. Jennifer June 24, 2013 at 8:16 am #

Good luck Nancy! Can’t wait to see the new, or perhaps the old, way of your thoughts, ideas and visions!

  16. Roxanne June 24, 2013 at 8:36 am #

YES! Thanks so much for getting back to your roots!

  17. Scarlett June 24, 2013 at 8:57 am #

Thank you, looking forward to the future.

  18. Dottie J June 24, 2013 at 9:00 am #

I agree, Nancy. The industry news and your insightful analysis is what makes your blog unique. That’s not to say the designer’s aren’t very talented. I wish them the best and I am certain I will see them in other places. But I subscribe for the industry news.

  19. Laura B June 24, 2013 at 9:01 am #

I think I’m gonna like this return to your roots! I too have found myself reading less of what was posted in the last year.

  20. Laura B June 24, 2013 at 9:05 am #

However, besides industry news, I like you showing things that inspired your scrapbooking/cards. I liked the tag series you did awhile ago.

    • Nancy Nally June 24, 2013 at 2:44 pm #

Glad to hear that you like the tags Laura because they are about to come back! I have a bunch of them planned! Also, some Project Life features in the near future!

  21. sandi June 24, 2013 at 9:10 am #

I look forward to these old-new changes! I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision to say goodbye, but doing what is best for you is, well, best! I’ll be here! Thanks Nancy! 🙂

  27. Susanne June 24, 2013 at 11:38 am #

Great decision, Nancy. You are my one source for news and trends – glad to know your focus will be there. And we can all, of course, follow Tammy, Stephanie and Ashley at their own sites.

  28. mel mccarthy June 24, 2013 at 12:24 pm #

Sounds wonderful, Nancy! And it’s perfect that we can still keep up with your team on their blogs. Best of both worlds. Congrats on your new direction!

  29. Pamela McGillin June 24, 2013 at 1:11 pm #

This is great Nancy, I always read Scrapbook Update when the articles are written by you.

  30. Judith June 24, 2013 at 1:38 pm #

Great news! Although I appreciated your contributors, I come to SU for industry news and your unique perspective. Looking forward to change. Keep up the good work.

  31. quickdon June 24, 2013 at 1:43 pm #

Sounds Great Nancy! Enjoy all your insights!

  32. donna c June 24, 2013 at 1:56 pm #

Ditto all the other responders! Love that it’s going “old school”, so to speak!

  33. Judy Webb June 24, 2013 at 2:43 pm #

Always look forward to the scrapbook news. Thanks for sharing with us/=.

  34. Addie June 24, 2013 at 3:49 pm #

I am so glad to hear this. The old Scrapbook Update was my favorite site for years. It was unique and the only place to go for real insight into the industry. I’ll definintely be back more frequently. It’s good to try new approaches –even better to return to old ones that worked!

  35. Anne June 24, 2013 at 4:07 pm #

So glad to hear you’re going back to the roots of Scrapbook Update. I was also one of the many (judging by the posts) that counted on SU for industry insider insights and news much more than some of the other features. But I’m happy to hear about your upcoming tags project!

  36. Terri Harmon June 24, 2013 at 9:33 pm #

This works so much better for me! Thanks for having the guts to follow your heart. 🙂

  37. Ann in PA June 24, 2013 at 9:48 pm #

Excited to have you back! I agree with others. I can get inspiration on my own from other sites. I always enjoy getting the news from SU. PS- I also miss you on The Paperclipping Roundtable. Always enjoy when you are on as a guest.

  38. Roz Witcher June 24, 2013 at 10:28 pm #

Your old sight was a great source of knowledge for us with information about the framework of the industry. This was well reported and the beginner/novice scrapbooker really gained insight to the craft.

  39. Wendy June 25, 2013 at 1:15 am #

I think you’ve made a great decision. I look forward to seeing your site with you as sole contributor again.

  40. Paula June 25, 2013 at 7:09 am #

    Sounds good!

  41. Classygirl June 25, 2013 at 7:54 am #

Works great for me. That is why I’m here. Thank You!

  42. Gab June 25, 2013 at 8:10 am #

I’ve always enjoyed all your contributers’ articles and it must have taken some soul searching on your part to come to this decision.
Can’t wait to read your next/first post!!

  43. C Ransom June 25, 2013 at 8:27 am #

Oh thank goodness! I’d gotten to the point where I just flashed on your site to see if there was any “news” and continued on if there wasn’t. I’ve always loved the old SU site & was sad to see it become so diluted.

  44. Crystal Williams June 25, 2013 at 8:35 am #

Thanks, Nancy! As always, love YOUR blog and look forward to many more postings to come.

  45. Simply Sandy June 25, 2013 at 11:01 am #

Kudos to you Nancy! I agree with the many above. I look to you to keep us posted on the insides of the industry. I can find inspiration at many wonderful blogs but you seem to always have the wonderful scoop we are all interested in. Keep up the great work! And I know that it is work and appreciate your hard work and dedication. At first when I saw the post, I thought you were closing your blog and my heart dropped but now it is lifted back up. Thanks for hanging in there for all of us.

  46. Nancy Nally June 25, 2013 at 1:18 pm #

I want to thank everyone so much for the support! I so look forward to connecting directly with my amazing Scrapbook Update audience again!

  47. Jessica Acs @ June 25, 2013 at 2:58 pm #

Wonderful news Nancy! I love your blog and look forward to keeping up with everything here 🙂

  48. Lily June 25, 2013 at 6:04 pm #

This makes me happy! I greatly appreciated your POV and rarely read the contributors, with the exception of CHA reveiws. Definitely happy about this change. And hope it works better for you.

  49. Beryl June 26, 2013 at 6:33 pm #

Change is always good…and an adventure! Good for you Nancy! Looking foward to the future!

  50. Kelli Panique June 29, 2013 at 1:29 pm #
