Update | 6.28.2013

It’s time for another Update – your round-up of scrapbook news from around the industry. This time around, we’ve got some serious industry news, and a whole lot of fun too! (You know what they say about all work and no play….)

Apparently even pop princesses need to buy their own flowers sometimes, as Britney Spears was spotted recently at a Michaels store in Los Angeles. The singer, who is currently in the studio recording her next album with, was carrying bags loaded down with artificial flowers, along with various other items. The photos in UK’s Daily Mail made me feel a bit better about my own usual wardrobe for shopping at Michaels – Britney was photographed shopping in sweats, no make-up, and really messy hair.

Jo-Ann Stores are looking for a District Team Leader in the Raleigh, NC area. This position requires a four year college degree and 3 to 5 years supervisory experience preferably in a retail environment.

American Crafts has a design team call out that closes this week (on Friday, June 28th). The call requires submitting 2 scrapbook pages, 1 card, and 2 other types of general crafting or DIY projects. International applicants are welcome and the new team will be announced in early July. Continue Reading →

Changes at Nally Studios!

Nancy Nally-11

Big changes are happening here at Scrapbook Update and I wanted to share with the site’s loyal readers what exciting things are planned for you!

Scrapbook Update started its life as a site focused on my passion for the news and trends of the scrapbook industry. For the past several years we’ve been bringing you creative consumer content on Scrapbook Update from a variety of wonderful and talented contributors. Sometimes, though, it is a good idea to take a step back from being locked in the day to day grind, and look real hard at where you are and whether it is really where you want to be. After some soul searching and analysis of traffic and survey data, I’ve decided to make some dramatic changes.

Scrapbook Update is going back to its roots. Continue Reading →

Creative Memories Seeks Court Permission For Close Outs, Program Modifications

Creative Memories is petitioning the court supervising its bankruptcy proceedings for permission to hold a large sale closing out product lines, as well as for permission to modify certain company programs, including the host rewards program, the rewards club, and gift certificates.

Creative Memories says that it intends to exit bankruptcy as a “smaller, more nimble company.” Numerous court filings seem to indicate the company intends to focus on simpler memory keeping options than their current product line, and also more on digital.

In the motion filed on June 12th, the company notified the court of its intentions to hold two sales: While Supplies Last and Last Chance Orders. Both of these close-outs will be for products which will not be part of the company’s future product line, but they will be handled in different ways. Continue Reading →
