Layout | We Are Family

Now that my new creative space is finally completed and functional (photos coming soon), I’m able to create much more again! The first thing I whipped out in my new space was this layout, inspired by both the precious photo and the fabulous new Park Bench collection from Fancy Pants Designs. Also, I wanted to take my new Silhouette Portrait out for another run. I love my new toy!

We Are Family by Nancy Nally

Supplies | Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants Designs “Park Bench” (Blanket, Park Bench Strips, Fountain, Light Post, Conversation). Ink: Colorbox Donna Salazar Mixed Media (Pewter). Spray Ink: Studio Calico Mister Huey’s (Sunshine), Heidi Swapp Color Shine (Tropicana Teal). Pen: Sharpie Fine Point. Digital Die Cutting Machine: Silhouette Portrait. Digital Cutting File: Silhouette (we are family by Lori Whitlock). Blank Chipboard: Silhouette. Adhesive: Ranger Studio by Claudine Hellmuth (Matte Multi-Medium). Paint: Martha Stewart Crafts (Beetle Black High Gloss). Stickers: Fancy Pants Designs (Park Bench Sticker Fundamentals), Heidi Swapp (Definitions), Bella Blvd (Gulf High Five Alphabet). Embellishments: Heidi Swapp Color Magic (fabric flowers, butterflies), Fancy Pants Designs (Park Bench tags).  Twine: Doodlebug Design (Gray). Washi Tape: Close To My Heart (slate).

Wow, that’s a long supply list for me…I don’t usually have that much detail in my projects. I was just inspired by all the great products sitting on my desk!

Here’s a closer look at what those details are:

This title block was exactly the sort of thing that I bought my Portrait for! I cut it from the new Silhouette Chipboard sheets. To get this thickness, I laminated two of them together. The depth is great and it was really easy to do, using Ranger Studio by Claudine Hellmuth Matte Multi Medium as the adhesive and leaving it to dry under a couple of heavy books. Then after it dried, I painted it with the paint I can’t live without lately – Martha Stewart Crafts. For this application I used the High Gloss in Beetle Black.

The orange flowers are Heidi Swapp Color Magic Flowers available at Michael’s that come uncolored. I sprayed “Sunshine” Mister Huey’s from Studio Calico onto my Ranger Craft Mat and then spritzed both the mat and the flower with water before rubbing the flower onto the mat.

I love these tag elements and they were so quick and easy to assemble! The tag bases are the coordinating tag set for the Park Bench collection from Fancy Pants Designs, with the string replaced with Gray Doodle Twine. The bottom tag was completed with just a Heidi Swapp sticker. The middle tag is barely more complicated, with a piece of Heidi Swapp Color Magic Chipboard spritzed with Color Shine. The top tag is nothing more than washi tape by Close To My Heart and Bella Blvd alphabet stickers. It was so simple!

Have I inspired you to make your own chipboard titles?  Silhouette is having a fabulous sale on their machines and chipboard in their online store this week if you use this link and enter our code “Update” at checkout!!

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments on the layout and the big step it represents for our family! We’re not done yet but we are getting there…the big day will finally come in October! Until then, we’ll continue to treasure our Sunday furloughs together at home as a family while Mike finishes up his time in work release.

I enjoyed so much making this layout…it just flowed out of me. Maybe that is why the supply list is so long…I didn’t want to stop! LOL
