Mom, I Love You

To create this Mother Day card, I used supplies from Lori Whitlock’s Sweet Girl collection that was released by Echo Park at CHA Winter 2013. I especially like the oversized butterfly with the alphabet design. It’s an adhesive-back chipboard die cut, which I attached using foam dots for extra dimension. To take the stickiness away I sprinkled Martha Stewart glitter on the back of the die cut making it a bit more interesting and fun. You can see some of it from the back of the card (as shown in the bottom photo).

Supplies | Cardstock: Dovecraft (Premium White). Patterned Paper: Echo Park (Sweet Girl Collection Kit). Chipboard and sticker: Echo Park (Sweet Girl). Brad: We R Memory Keepers (Travel Light Fabric Brads). Letter Stickers: American Crafts. Adhesive: Dovecraft. Glitter: Martha Stewart.

Designer: Yana Smakula

Yana Smakula is a newlywed from Ukraine (which is in southeastern Europe) with no kids but two black cats. She loves to travel across the world and meet new people, discover new cultures and just explore. So far together with her new husband she’s been to a few places in Europe (Poland, Check Republic and UK), Africa (Egypt, Tunisia and Israel), Asia (China and Sri Lanka) and USA. Their next dream destination is Madagascar, because they hear the nature there is simply breathtaking! Yana fell in love with the U.S. while living here (in Las Vegas, NV) as a high school foreign exchange student when she was a teen. She enjoys scrapbooking, mostly about her travels. Her other passion is cardmaking – she enjoys trying new products and techniques, experimenting and creating in different styles. She’s also very much into stamping (although she didn’t realize it until she took a close look at her cards and noticed almost all of them use stamps!). To learn more about Yana, visit her website.

1. Gold glitter-dipped

Instead of covering an entire embellishment with gold glitter, try just dipping in an edge. Dip-dying is all the rage in fashion and home decor right now, so keep up your cutting edge in your scrapbooks, too. To achieve this look, simply brush the edges of the embellishment with a liquid glue like Mod Podge, and then sprinkle the glitter on. You can also actually dip your paper right into the glue and let the excess drip off before glitterizing. alittleextrachin_00 Continue Reading →
