Pinterest Inspiration | Rainbow Theme

Rainbow patterns and colors are springing up everywhere and Pinterest is just full of rainbow-themed products. I really liked the simplicity of this photo below and decided to use it as my inspiration photo for this week’s layout.

water bottles

These water bottles are Bobble Filtering Water Bottles from A+R Store and I love the display they have used. Very simple, very graphic and you almost don’t need the description to help you understand the product. This is exactly the type of photo that draws me in and I was very excited to make a clean, graphic layout based on it. But that isn’t at all how my layout turned out. Take a look!

I started with a digital template for this layout because I loved the rainbow-colored circle banner in it. Here’s how the template looked before I modified it.

As you can see, many of the embellishments were already included with the template but I modified it to suit my photos and my style. I added a piece of blue cardstock as the background. And because one of the things that drew me to the inspiration photo was the bright rainbow colors on top of the white background, I added in a white doily to the center of this page and used it as a mat for the photos and the frames. To add balance, I included some edged doilies at the top and the bottom of the page, as well.

I chose not to use all of the rainbow accents in the template so I removed the owl, the rainbow, the clouds and the tag and added word art and some more neutral epoxy buttons. I added in even more layers and some small vintage accents.

What struck me as funny was that I chose the inspiration photo because I loved the simple, graphic nature of it and my layout is anything but simple and graphic. But that’s also part of the fun of using photos and ads for inspiration – they’re just a starting point for your own creativity.

I love spending time on Pinterest and I always find something to inspire me. I hope that you are inspired by this design as I was. Let me know where you find inspiration and maybe I’ll use it in a future column. You can also follow my Pinterest boards here.
