Gallery Highlights | 3.10.2013

Welcome to another edition of gallery highlights! This week’s layouts are wonderful examples of how to use  texture and soft colors on a layout in a way that really highlights the focal photo. Let’s go take a look and I hope you like them all as much as I do. Don’t forget – you can click on the links to visit the layouts in their galleries and view supply lists, leave a comment for the designer, or view the designer’s other work.

Michelle used a dark background for the base of her layout, layered on top of patterned paper. Over the dark cardstock, she layered more patterned paper, tags, doilies and buttons. The soft colors of her smaller layers bring both light and attention to her photo. This layout is filled with so much texture and so many fun layers – they all work together to showcase this most adorable photo.

Trending: Feathers (Review and Wrap-Up)

Hi everyone! This is Ashley back again today, with what is truly the last installment of what has been a very fun series on feathers as a scrapbooking trend. Today’s post is a review and wrap-up of the feather series… and epilogue of sorts. I have a few projects to share that I made to go along with the feather topics over the past month. In Part 1, we discussed feather themed scrapbooking products. I used the Cocoa Daisy feather stamps (that are included in the wonderful give-away, which ends on March 12th!) and heat embossed several feathers on plain white cardstock. Then I cut them out by hand and adhered them on the side of my layout. I love the texture and sparkle the gold glitter finish embossing powder gives these stamped embellishments! Continue Reading →

My Mind’s Eye | Thanks

mmethanks46

Terri Davenport is here today to bring us the final installment of our My Mind’s Eye feature week highlighting their new CHA Winter 2013 collections! Today, we are highlighting the Boy Crazy collection once again in this fun “thank you” card.

Balloons are trendy, and this one makes a great makeshift banner to carry our card’s sentiment on. The blue literally pops off the card and highlights the gracious message!

To balance the visual weight of the chipboard piece, Terri layered twill and baker’s twine at the bottom for an interesting piece of texture. It also covers the seam between the two patterned papers to keep it from looking awkward.

Supplies |  Cardstock: Core’dinations. Patterned Paper: My Mind’s Eye “Boy Crazy” (Point the Way). Chipboard: My Mind’s Eye (Boy Crazy). Alphabet Stickers: Simple Stories. Twill: Stampin’ Up!. Baker’s Twine: unknown.
