Digital Trends | Project Life Journaling Cards, Part II

Many of the digital scrapbooking stores have monthly releases of Project Life-compatible journaling cards. I introduced some of them last month – Project Life Journaling Cards – and I wanted to bring you some more this week. There are so many that it would be impossible to stay caught up with all of them so I highly recommend that you spend some time looking around on your own but let’s go take a look at some of the newest ones I’ve found!

Two Peas in a Bucket

At Two Peas, Just Jaimee has two new releases including a set of soft and whimsical cards and a second set of cards with a vintage feel. Baers Garten Designs has also released a new set of journaling cards in soft shades of grey and pink. They are themed for February but versatile enough to use all year.

And there you have them – some of the newest project life journaling cards! I’m sure there will be many, many more project life cards and kits coming throughout the year. I can’t wait to see more layouts made with these new cards in all the galleries.

I had thought “Project Life” was trademarked. Is it?

I’m not sure exactly what it is you are trying to say? The words “Project Life” are trademarked, I do believe, yes. However, that does not stop media from using it in editorial contexts, only other companies from using it in a commercial sense to promote their own products. (Notice none of the products above have the term “Project Life” in the name.)

If you mean that the format of the 3×4 card is legally protected so other companies can’t make cards? That is not possible. You can’t legally protect the idea of something as basic as making a card that is 3×4 in size. It’s not specific or unique enough. Which means other companies are free to make as many 3×4 things as they want. And frankly, it’s probably in Becky Higgins’ best interest that other people are creating products for the Project Life ecosystem…it builds the interest in that concept and enhances her brand by extension.

I love these journaling cards and hope to see more of this type of embellishment included with the various collections that designers and companies are producing. As I teach I always try to stress the importance of adding journaling to a layout. Often times, scrappers leave that to the end and never finish the story that the pictures start. When I design layouts, I try to include some type of journaling element. Thanks Stephanie and Nancy for your article and input.
