i love you. i love you. i love you.

This card by designer Kathy Martin is so full of bright pattern that it deceives the eye into thinking there are more elements on the card than there really are.

It would be easy for a design with this much pattern to get overwhelming to the eye, but the cool expanse of white that serves as the card’s base balances the busy patterns nicely. It also helps that the elements are all from one coordinating collection – Bella Blvd’s Kiss Me – so the elements have a soothing unity despite all the pattern and color.

The green chevron tape shows here how perfect the scale of most washi tape is as an element for cardmaking. Just rip off a strip and stick it down and you have a super-quick element!

The card doesn’t just have color – it has dimension too! Layering the chipboard elements gives the card a lot of dimension, first from the depth of the elements themselves and then the depth that comes from stacking them.

Supplies | All products used to create this card are from the Bella Blvd collection Kiss Me. (Ciao Chip, Miniatures Stickers and Designer Tape).
