Pinterest Inspiration | Poker Ad

While looking through Pinterest earlier this week, I clicked on the image below because I thought it was a Christmas-related image. To my pleasant surprise, it was an ad for poker night at a cafe. I love its simplicity and decided to use the ad’s layout design for a scrapbooking layout.

The ad uses a simple background with the focal image in the middle of the page. The two primary additions to the layout are single red balls placed in the top left and bottom right corner with a bit of text at the center of the bottom. The red balls move the eye through the design and end perfectly at the text which explains the meaning of the ad.

All supplies from Designer Digitals | Patterned Paper: Winterberry Kit (tan paper) and Vinter Kit (brown papers) by Lynn Grieveson. Embellishments: Vinter Kit by Lynn Grieveson (phrase tag). Readymade Circles Vintage No. 02 by Studio DoubleD (circle tag). Geometric Hints Brushes and Stamps No. 03 by Lynn Grieveson (brushes). Word Art: Awesome Script Word Brushes and Stamps by Ali Edwards (title).

I started off with a gently-patterned piece of tan paper meant to complement the neutral tones in my photos. I placed my photos across the center of the paper but I moved them up a bit higher than that of the inspiration layout. I wanted my journaling to be directly underneath my center photo so moving the photos up a bit higher gave me the room for the journaling. To mimic the placement of the single red balls from the ad, I added brown embellishments to the top left and bottom right corners of the layout. Adding my simple title above the middle photo was the final touch.

Ads are one of my favorite places to look for design inspiration, and this layout design is one of my favorites. To vary things a bit, you could also do a mirror-image design of this layout or place four photos in a simple collage in the middle of the page. Adding more embellishments would also create more interest or change the design enough to suit any scrapbooking style.

I love spending time on Pinterest and I always find something to inspire me. I hope that you are inspired by this design as I was. Let me know where you find inspiration and maybe I’ll use it in a future column. You can also follow my Pinterest boards here.
