Welcome to Gallery Highlights for this week!

This week’s finds include some gorgeous layouts and cards, including some timely sports-related projects. I hope you like them all as much as I do. Let’s go take a look! Don’t forget – You can click on the links to visit the layouts in their galleries and view supply lists, leave a comment for the designer, or view the designer’s other work.

Follow Your Dreams by CammieKing

I couldn’t pass up this card when I saw it in the gallery! The timing is perfect and it’s a great sentiment. Carolyn’s design is so creative – she wrapped die-cut circles with baker’s twine to make the Olympic rings. All she had left to do was to add the sticker at the bottom and double mount the cardstock onto the card. It’s so creative and anyone would be thrilled to receive this.

 Tri-City 7 x 7 by Wendymck

The card above just called for a sports page to follow it, and I love this football layout. Wendy layered seven photos onto a basic square grid design. She distressed them, used different sizes and framed the largest photo. With that many photos, she didn’t need to add too many embellishments, and she did a great job here keeping the focus on the photos. The neutral background color also helps the colors in the photos pop off the page.

San Franciso by corgi1996

Sophie’s layout makes me want to design a layout using white cardstock this very minute. She added two rows of photos to the middle of her cardstock, leaving equal space between them all, allowing the white cardstock to act as natural margins. She added two thin strips of neutral papers above and below the rows of photos and kept her title small and light. Her beautiful and simple design matches these beautiful and soft photos perfectly.

Suzy’s layout stole my heart. Combine the cutest puppy with an adorable little girl and beautiful papers, and this layout is a winner all around. Suzy layered photos on the left side of her background paper and then added floral embellishments, journaling and some bling to the right side. It’s a gorgeous well-balanced design.

Afghanistan R & R by mugsbigsis

Last week, I introduced you to a beautiful and moving album designed by Kelly about her son’s deployment. She is documenting his deployment using photos and posts from his Facebook page while he serves in Afghanistan. I don’t know that I’ve ever been so moved by an album before. Kelly has added more pages to the album and I want to show you two more.

Her first page is a two-page spread using a digital template and her son’s Facebook photos. She has kept the accompanying papers very neutral and they really match the colors in the photos – truly allowing the photos to shine. Simple is often better and in an album like this, simple is perfection.

Afghanistan Mister by mugsbigsis

Kelly’s second layout uses the same design principle as the other pages – a simple grid and neutral colors. On this page, she simply used one enlarged photo with some journaling and the date. The journaling is what her son posted on Facebook and I included it here because it is just that wonderful.

“Facebook post: And the Award for best mom goes to mine. As I’m getting ready for patrol wiping the sweat off my head I think to myself ‘If only I had one of those little fan misters I could take out with me.’  I open up a package from her on the way out the door and BAM. Fan Mister. Needless to say, it’s on a Caribbeaner clipped to the front of my Kit.”

Thanks so much for the kind words about my pages and my son, Steph. :O)
The “highlights” pages are truly inspiring. I’m in love with “San Fransisco” in this column. Makes me want to take pictures just to lift the page.
