This week, there’s a bunch of noteworthy sales, some great links, and a few CHA-related announcements (of course!)
Nikki Sivils made an announcement this week that will be disappointing to her many fans. Not only is she choosing for her company to not exhibit at CHA Summer 2012 in Chicago, but she has chosen to not design any products for this development cycle. Nikki attributed the decision to stress from several recent family crisises, including her father’s cancer diagnosis, her brother’s long recovery from an accident that left him with serious burns, and her grandmother’s passing away.
I, personally, will miss seeing Nikki (and her husband Dan) and her unique design brand in Chicago. I wish Nikki and her family all the best and look forward to seeing her and her company in Anaheim in January!
Elle’s Studio made a couple of big announcements this week. First, they announced they are exhibiting at their first CHA show, with a booth in Chicago at CHA Summer 2012. They plan to release three lines – everyday, Halloween, and Christmas – along with some new stamps at the show.
Their second announcement was that to make room for the new CHA releases, they are having a Grab Bag and Tag Retirement sale. The grab bags are sold out, but there are still plenty of retiring tags left at a huge discount with the coupon code from the Elle’s Studio blog! Get them while they last, because although the sale lasts until Sunday night, they are going to go fast!
Heidi Swapp put a call out this week for what she is calling a Media Team. From the description, this is a design team being assembled to provide content for her social media outlets. For all the details on how to apply, check out the Media Team link. The deadline for applications is 7/21/2012.
Ever wonder what goes into designing a trade show booth? Stephanie Hunt of Bella Blvd wrote a blog entry this week that gives a fantastic look inside the conception, design, and construction of Bella’s new booth for the Chicago show. It’s very educational for anyone who thinks that trade show exhibiting might be of interest to their business – and for consumers, it offers a few tantalizing sneak peeks at new releases for CHA Summer!
Teresa Collins Designs is looking for a full-time in-house Production Graphic Artist. Interested applicants should contact email@example.com.
Tori Spelling’s new TLC series Craft Wars debuted this week. One of the three contestants on the first episode was Christy Tomlinson, whose SheArt collection was released by Pink Paislee at CHA Winter 2012. Christy wrote about her experience on the show on her blog. Craft Wars airs on TLC on Tuesdays at 10pm.
Studio Calico has announced that they will now be producing digital cut files that are compatible with the Silhouette to match their monthly kits. That is just another sign of the growing domination of the electronic die cutting market by Silhouette cutters. Their new “digital” shop will also include brushes and printables that match their releases.
Jillibean Soup is having a big summer clearance sale to clear out their warehouse. They have special discount boxes as well as a sale of 30% off sitewide with the coupon code from their blog. Sale is good through Sunday night!
Lately I am totally in love with Pebbles embellishments for making quick, beautiful cards. This week their blog had an entry that did exactly that! This entry created four beautiful cards from some of my favorite recent Pebbles flowers and butterflies…I can’t wait to try these ideas myself!
If the temperatures outside have you looking for some hot color schemes, Core’dinations has a color palette inspiration entry on their blog that shares a palette of reds and yellows that is just perfect for the sizzling summer of 2012!
Repeated use of geometric shapes as a fill pattern is a popular design element in papercrafting right now. Making Memories has a nice card tutorial on their blog about how to use a shape as the base for a card’s design. It’s very instructive – and very simple!
