School is out for summer! (Well, for a week until summer school begins…) To celebrate, this week in Noteworthy I’m bringing you some summer vacation scrapbooking on the go tips, as well as a few new product announcements, and a few pieces of big news from manufacturers.
The first piece of news falls in the category of silver linings. We learned awhile ago that Hambly is closing down – but before they do, they are having a warehouse sale on June 11th-13th (Monday-Wednesday next week). Sales will not be made online, but only in person at their Santa Clara, CA warehouse. If you are a Hambly fan in the Santa Clara area, this is your chance to stock up before the products disappear for good!
Fancy Pants Designs announced a new collection this week: Country Boutique.
Country Boutique is full of muted neutrals, and is a two-part collection. There are 12 double-sided patterned papers in the first part of the collection, and then the second part of the collection consists of an additional 8 double-sided papers, with a subtle wedding theme. With so many coordinating options to choose from, the collection will be perfect for DIY wedding projects.
Stampavie has also announced some new products this week – they have 20 new stamp designs being released by Anne Cresci and Penny Johnson:
Letraset announced this week that they have been acquired by ColArt Group. Both companies are UK-based. ColArt Group is the producer of the fine art brands Liquitex, Winsor & Newton, and Lefranc & Bourgeois. Letraset is well-known for its line of premium art markers that compete with the popular Copic brand. Stampavie is the exclusive distributor of Letraset in the United States.
Melissa Frances has announced that they will be launching their very first Trunk Sale on Monday. Not sure what it means but check back on Monday on their website for all of the details!
Core’dinations has a new product coming out – 12×12 die cut core’dinations papers that break apart into multiple pieces (typically a page frame and several internal elements). Check out the video introducing them on the Core’dinations website.
Elle’s Studio is having a design team call for the July-December 2012 term of their design team! Applications are due June 15th. For all the details on design team member responsibilities and how to apply, visit the Elle’s Studio blog.
There’s a lot of talk lately about scrapbooking how our lives intersect with current events. Anam Stubbington has an article this week on the My Mind’s Eye blog that contains several layouts themed to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Her layouts are great examples of remembering to record how we fit into history – she records her unique relationship to this very special event.
Teresa Collins posted a lengthy photo review of her trip to New York for the National Stationery Show on her blog:
About 2/3 of the way down the article is where the actual show photos appear.
Thinking of trying to scrapbook your vacation while you are actually on it? Dedra Long and Create with Rebecca have some great ideas for ways to tote your basic tools along, and for mini books to record your memories in.
Lily Bee had a great example this week of a use for 6×6 paper pads – using the same pattern in two different sizes for effect on a project!
To learn more about how the layout was created and what collections were used, visit the Lily Bee blog.
