Noteworthy | 6.2.2012

It’s been a relatively quiet week in the scrapbook world this week…it seems many people decided to turn the Memorial Day weekend into Memorial Day week. But there’s still some news of note to share!

[Apologies for the fact that this week's Noteworthy is delayed and abbreviated. Apparently, flu viruses can decimate people AND editorial calendars.]

It’s hard to believe, but CHA Summer 2012 is only about 6 weeks away! My Little Shoebox gets the unofficial prize for the first sneak peek of the 2012 Chicago show, with a small peek of the “Secret Garden” collection:

Can’t wait until next month for something new? Elle’s Studio announced a new collection this week that is shipping right now! “Summer Lovin” is full of bright summer color and fun summer themes, and has a lot of elements that are perfect for Project Life:

If you are a professional tech geek in the Dallas area, Michaels Stores has a couple of job listings you might be interested in. The listings are associated with their MiDesign service. One is for a Graphic Designer for their digital elements, and the other is for a web analytics specialist.

Registration is open now at OnlineCardClasses.com for their new class, Stretch Your Stamps! Taught by Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire, the class will feature guest appearances by artists such as Ali Edwards, Claudine Hellmuth, Tim Holtz, Kim Hughes, Dawn McVey, Nichol Magouirk, and Tami Hartley. Stretch Your Stamps runs from July 9th-23rd and is priced at $25.

Ali, Jennifer and Dawn are taking part as contributors in another online stamping class that is open for registration. Studio Calico’s Summer Stamp School with Robyn Wehrlich will include an exclusive Studio Calico 4×6 stamp set that is only available to class participants. The Summer Stamp School classroom opens July 1st, and the price for registration is $29.

The Gaylord brand of hotels, consisting of four luxury resort/convention center properties, has announced that it is selling itself to Marriott for $210 million. The Gaylord Palms in Orlando hosts the annual Orlando Scrapbook Expo, and the the Gaylord Opryland has also hosted scrapbook industry events. The Gaylord name brand will continue to exist as part of the Marriott family.

Margie Romney-Aslett has announced that Spark the Event No. 4, which was tentatively planned for Fall 2012, has been postponed until Summer 2013.

Six weeks, far out. I wondered today when CHA Summer was. I’m still waiting for some of OA’s 9 to 5 let alone Cakewalk and Woodland Park!

October Afternoon’s 9 to 5 collection is currently in stock at Two Peas In A Bucket, but the other two have not shipped yet it appears.

For those working CHA it really isn’t that far away – it starts July 16th. I will have to publish the sneak peeks page in about two weeks here on Scrapbook Update, and companies are already finishing their booths – Mario tweeted a picture last night that showed he and Tim were packaging up props for the CHA booth for shipping already.

Thanks so much for keeping me up to date! No wonder I knew about most of these, nobody was posting this week so I could keep up despite end of the school year craziness! Hope you’re feeling better if you it was you who was sick!

It was crazy quiet this week! I kept looking at my Google Reader thinking it was broken and not updating because no one was posting anything!

Thanks for all the good wishes on our family health…B and I were both sick this week. She took her turn early in the week and then generously shared the bug with me to enjoy late in the week. (Thanks kid.) We’re both getting slowly on the mend.
