Wow, all the mid-releases kept coming this week  – and lots of other exciting announcements too! (Stay tuned later today for a round-up of NSD sales and events).

Don’t forget – the launch party for Everyday Storyteller is tonight (Friday)! You can check it out starting at 8:30pm Central Time for giveaways and lots more fun stuff!

BasicGrey made some big mid-release announcements this week. First, they announced that they are creating exclusive collections for Jo-Ann Fabric & Crafts Stores. Two new collections, Serendipity and Shine On, were just released this week in select Joann stores. (The collections are not available at The collections will also be available internationally through various outlets.

BasicGrey also announced two lines that will be available in general distribution. The first, Clippings, is a departure from BasicGrey’s usual style and can only be described as “cutting edge vintage” – it takes on the vintage style with a touch of modern graphic funk that has been made popular by companies like Studio Calico. In addition to papers, the line also includes vintage embellishments such as wooden buttons and mini envelopes.

Although the company is entering a design space with this collection that is unquestionably dominated by another company, the Clippings collection is beautifully executed and should easily draw the attention of consumers with the help of the BasicGrey brand name.

BasicGrey announced a second collection this week as well for mid-release: Paper Cottage. This springtime collection of hand drawn designs is more in line with BasicGrey’s typical style, and is created from a palette of soft spring tones accented with red and black. The embellishments range from flags to felt to accordion designs.

Just in time for making Father’s Day projects, Jillibean Soup has unveiled their new mid-release called Macho Nacho Soup.

A mix of man-themed patterns and all-over graphic patterns in bright blue and green, this collection looks like a hit for Jillibean and will be sure to be especially popular with cardmakers in 6×6 pad form.

Echo Park have been very busy this week! First, in case you missed it earlier this week, they announced a whole new sister company: Carta Bella Paper Company. But they also had another smaller announcement. If you are an aspiring product designer, Echo Park has a possible opportunity for you. They are holding a Designer Discovery contest via – and the winner gets to have their Echo Park mini-collection printed! To learn more, go to the Echo Park Designer Discovery contest announcement.

In case you needed any more proof that super bright colors are coming back into vogue, check out a few of the papers from the Shoreline collection announced by American Crafts this week:

American Crafts also announced some new boxed card sets this week, along with a dozen new Thickers products. The chipboard Thickers that are printed to resemble cork, burlap and book pages are certain to be especially popular:

American Crafts’ sister brand Pebbles also had a new line on offer this week. Sunnyside is a line that is so happy and full of summer charm it will make you want to take a picnic in the park! The embellishments for this one are particularly fabulous:

My jaw dropped when I walked into Joann’s the other day and there was the NEW Basic Grey collections! I have to say that I bought just about everything in both lines w/out coupons. I never do that but I can see that it is going to be sold out quickly. I have to say that both collections can be used together and I love that. I wish I could scrap fast enough to be able to buy all the new collections, but I cant. I love the new Jillibean soup Macho collection Too.

OOh, am going to have to make a special trip to JoAnns! I don’t go in there very often, as they never have anything new in my store, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope against hope that they have these collections. Thanks for the heads-up Nancy!
