Craft & Hobby Association Announces Formation of CHA-UK

The Craft & Hobby Association has announced the formation of an affiliate in the United Kingdom called CHA-UK. The new association will be independently funded and governed from its American affiliate, and will operate as a not-for-profit organization.

This isn’t CHA’s first international partnership. CHA already has a Canadian affiliate called the Canadian Craft & Hobby Association (CCHA), which also operates as an independent non-profit organization. Continue Reading →

Project Reboot | Project Life 2012 – First Steps

Welcome to Project Reboot on Scrapbook Update! This article is the first in a new ongoing series I’m going to be bringing you about how to rescue – or reboot – projects that you’ve abandoned half-completed or even just in the planning stages, so that you can make them into something that is completed that works for you!

The first few articles in this series will focus on Project Life. I hope you find them useful!

As I discussed on last week’s Paperclipping Roundtable episode about Project Life, I have been basically stalled on my 2012 Project Life. I love the concept of Project Life but was having trouble executing it in 2011 and 2012.

I got off to a good start for 2012, or so I thought. I really love the new Clementine kit this year, and I had decided to try Project Life digitally in 2012 to see if it would go better for me than the paper version that I tried to work with in 2011 but couldn’t stay with.

My digital cover page went quickly and I was really happy with the results. I didn’t follow the template of elements that the kit suggests using for the title page. Instead, I used a mix of title page and inside elements to create a collage of elements that were customized to send a specific message and set a theme.

Giveaway | Amy Tangerine Daybooks

It’s time to give away more goodies on Scrapbook Update!

The winner of last week’s giveaway of the Tim Holtz Spring Seasonal Ink Pads is Laura Church:

Ooo thanks for the chance to win. I have every colour of TH Inks so I definitely need these!

This week’s giveaway sponsored by Scrapbook Update is another big trend from another big industry name: Amy Tan’s signature line from American Crafts called Amy Tangerine. And the big trend I’m talking about is mini books!

I’ve got  two Amy Tangerine mini books to share with Scrapbook Update’s readers…these are duplicates of ones that I myself have and am planning future projects with. One of them is going to be a “things you say” album about my daughter, since she’s starting to talk more lately – and with that has come much hilarity. I have a couple ideas I’m still bouncing around for the second one.

Mini-books in general are very trendy right now but it’s especially hot to make them out of a variety of different shapes and designs of papers. Several companies have built popular binding tools to cater to this trend, but for those not into DIY-ing a project like that (or who don’t use them often enough to invest in a tool to facilitate the binding), the Amy Tangerine line of books is a beautifully designed option. We have an eclectic bunch of scrapbook projects for you this week – a gorgeous canvas, traditional layouts, multi-photo layouts, single-photo layouts and digi layouts. So, let’s go take a look! You can click on the links to visit the layouts in their galleries and view supply lists, leave a comment for the designer, or view the designer’s other work.

Proof by PamFSU29

I adore this layout! Not only is the photo adorable but Pam was able to take some very graphic embellishments and papers and use them to turn this layout into an active, fun-filled design. The kraft paper background is the perfect complement to the bright colors.
