Kit | Back To School by May

[Editor's Note: Welcome to a new regular feature here at Scrapbook Update! Every 4-6 weeks, our creative staff will be assembling a kit to share with you, and showing you what they have done with their own design. We hope you enjoy this new feature that shares the talents of our staff in a new way.]

It’s a wonderful time of year, and I find myself so inspired to create in the little time I have carved out for myself and my scrapbooking during the days filled with school activities, soccer, and getting out of a summer lazy routine! Today I have my Back to School kit to share with you:

Red and yellow are the colors that come to mind when I think of Back to School scrapbooking, and I kept that in mind as I added additional colors and unusual twists to that classic combo in my Back to School papercrafting kit. My inspiration was to gather some papers and a few other details that I could grab and use to quickly scrapbook my September and the beginning of a new school year with ease.

I kept things simple, mixing up products from a wide variety of brands. I love the possibilities I see with these goodies! I did not intend for this to be a kit where I use products only from the kit . This kit is a foundation. I intend to build on it, to add products and details from my own stash as needed for my projects. My real goal is to use it to leap out of my summer routine and hop back into more crafting!

Here is a full list of products used to create my Back to School kit:

What kit is complete without “add-ons” to play with? Here’s some additional items I suggest that would coordinate well with my Back to School kit:

Thursday I will return to finish this back to school series with a first day of school layout! For now, I leave you with this video explaining my kit, and making suggestions for adding to it. If you have questions – please feel free to leave them here in the comments!

  1. Awesome kit!! I love the mix of colors- this is so versatile and could be used for back to school or any number of other fall subjects!

  2. This is an interesting new feature, enjoyed the video too. I might even have to try pull together my own back-to-school kit.

Love the new feature. Just recently started using kits (I won a bunch of them at this year’s National Scrapbooking Day crop). I’ve been following “Counterfeit Kit Challenge” to use up my stash & now this feature is wonderful for buying pieces with kits in mind.

  4. Seems like a great new feature! Looking forward to seeing more!

  5. Terri Harmon says:

What a great collection of product. Can’t wait to see what you share tomorrow! :-)

  6. I was all excited. I thought we were going to be able to BUY the kit not have to try and find all the pieces (or similar) myself. I have no (good) LSS and have to do on line. Not one online retailer will have all items listed. I am bummed!

    • http://www.twopeasinabucket.com has nearly everything, maybe all of it actually I’ve not checked in the last few days. http://www.scrapbook.com has a lot of good stuff too- the papers are easily substituted out if one isn’t available. idea with this particular kit was to show you the kit I made from my stash, inspire you to build your own B2S kit!

I’m so glad you liked it so much that you wanted to purchase! I believe in future Scrapbook Update is working to make that a possibility.

    • Thanks, May. Like I don’t have a STASH!! (the size of Mt. Rushmore) of my own. hee hee hee!

I agree with you! I thought we were going to be able to BUY the kit. I would never be able to find all the many things listed in the kit to beable to put it together
