A little while ago, we shared a new concept with our readers – the haul video – and asked them to share their shopping bargains with us via video.
To kick things off, it only seemed appropriate that I should make a haul video from one of my own scrapbook shopping sprees where I scored a few bargains. (And just for fun, I also shared the non-bargain items I bought and explained why I got them that day.)
So what did we learn from this video?
1) Nancy’s really not kidding when she says she’ll buy anything by Tim Holtz that she sees.
2) Somewhere between $.14/ea and $.06/ea is what I consider a reasonable retail price for a decorative button.
3) The Tiny Attacher staples make a great add-on sale. I paid full price for them without batting an eyelid since I was buying the Attacher.
OK – now it is your turn! Would you like your haul to be the featured in the next Scrapbook Update “haul” analysis? Go for it! It doesn’t have to be fancy or “pro”. Just be yourself! You can submit your own “haul” video to Scrapbook Update via our video submissions page after uploading it to YouTube or a similar service. We can’t wait to see what our readers come up with!

Your Michael’s is much better than ours! I have been looking for that three-pack of Mono. What is that Tim Holtz thing? I’ve never seen it before. And what the heck is tissue tape?
Fun video…you did a great job! I am just starting to use masks…that’s fun too.
Great shopping vid. I always hit the clearance isle first at Micheals. I’ve found albums that are originally priced at $29.97 and bought them for $3.97. Love deals and I love the coupons!
Oh, it’s so much fun when we share our shopping exploits. I love a sale as much as the next gal, but I’m totally with you on buying Tim’s stuff even if I have to pay full price. You’ll love that mini-stapler, I use so much more ribbon now that I did before. Can’t wait to see what your followers share. This is fun!
Hi Nancy,
My hubby is the same and is always nice enough to do a crafty run with me. But if you are ever in Jersey I bet me and you could do damage on our own. I just completed an online binge with two (count ‘em) TWO stampin up orders, a scrapcastle paper order, and I just could not resist ordering the new epiphany button studio from scrapbook.com. I heard a rumor that A.C. Moore filed a missing persons report looking for me. I was told they said “something is wrong because we sent her $20.00 in reward points that expire at the end of September and she is has not been to the store”. When the police arrived at my house my husband simply told them “No she just went nuts on the internet and spent so much that she had to dip into her cricut imagine money that she saved” fortunately one of the officers has a wife with the same H&H (haul and hoard) tendencies so all is well and they did not arrest my dear hubby for murder. Also they did not arrest him because I was sitting on the curb waiting for the UPS man. Really I have cookies, in a hand decorated box… to give him. No one should have to haul all these boxes up my oh so long steps!
Thanks Nancy!
Lysa
Great video Nancy. thanks for sharing your shopping spree with us.I like that you used your 40% off coupon(s) on moderately priced items instead of just “big ticket” items. I always feel like I need to be saving big in order to put my 40% off coupons to use, but why not use it on everyday used items?
Hugs,
Kristina
There were 50% 0ff coupons this week in the paper and online. I used two. I never buy anything at the big box stores unless I get 40% off or more. Our Michaels is so generic, that the items in it are from two or more years ago. All the new stuff must be going elsewhere.
I have to ask you about the tombo mono. I’ve been finding that anything I glued with my mono in past years (say 3-5 years ago or so. Have you been using this product for long? I’m curious to hear how others do with it. Makes me sad, because I love the way it goes on – like butter! But when my stuff falls apart – it’s pretty upsetting.
(oops my previous post messed up) I have to ask you about the tombo mono. I’ve been finding that anything I glued with my mono in past years (say 3-5 years ago or so) has fallen apart and the glue has not held. Have you been using this product for long? I’m curious to hear how others do with it. Makes me sad, because I love the way it goes on – like butter! But when my stuff falls apart – it’s pretty upsetting.
Great haul video Nancy! Lysa…great post too
I went to Michael’s and ACM two weeks ago where I haven’t been in over a year! It was heaven
I bought some chipboard albums for $1, lots of clearance embellies…all for less than $2 each, used 40% off coupons for EK Success punches (doily lace and arch lattice). There was sooo much more I wanted but I was proud to show some restraint!
Are you using the repositionable or the permanent? I haven’t had issues with the permanent Tombow.
Your mikes has better clearance than mine….granted I need to take a run to the “other one” today… I love the masks you found!! Very Cool!
one of these days I will make my “hauling” video. i just went to M’s on Labor Day and got good finds, then went to ACM and got some DCWV half price, no coupon neded and the went back to M’s next day and they forgot to take a percent off ticket from last week and i got 2 more stacks for 40%off. hehehe.
That will make a good video.
i want the TH attacher too but I am waiting for another good 50% off one!
Thanks for sharing your damage to the wallet with us!
I love Tim Holtz too. Whenever I have a coupon for 40% off at Michaels, I will purchase a Tim Holtz product. Stamps too!
wow…your Michaels sure is better than mine. I go every week and have never seen anything like what you have gotten in your clearance section. I have never had a problem with mono tape runners that are permament. Also..can you show us how to use the tissue tape from Tim H?
LOVE the buttons great buy on those! (they are in the unkit this month hehe) LOVE the tissue tape I used some of that tonight on a page. so much fun! (I like the masks too) Guess I need to check out our michs huh again huh? I dashed through it sat night but didn’t look at the clearance was on a mission for soemthing else (they didn’t have at ours surprise surprise) The one across the Bay is Better I hear. Have fun playing with your stuffs!
What a cool haul! Please tell us what you think of the tiny attacher. I’d like to get one too
FUN! If my video runs over an hour, is that ok???? LOL!
I fell like a “compleat” idiot writing this but my curiosity has overcome my common sense-where is the video and how do I watch it!
