After seeing your cute photo Nancy, it made me go dig out a photo of myself from when I was about 4ish in a crocheted dress and knee socks made for me by my aunt. Thanks for jogging my memory. I come from a long line of crafter aunts and grandmothers, who all found their own niches in some sort of crafting, and have certainly tried many new things. I have enjoyed needlework, crocheting, and papercrafting, but I would love to really learn how to sew more than just simple mendings.
I appreciate all you offer here and on PRT.

That jumper is a treasure! Just looking at it, one can see and feel the love that went into it. I'll bet whomever made it for you absolutely cherished that photograph.

What a wonderful gift that the women in your family provided you with the joy and creativity of crafting. I thank my mother, aunts and older sisters for doing the same for me.

Nancy, while the puffy sleeves do date the outfit a bit, I betcha my 4-year-old would look adorable in that crocheted jumper over some funky leggings and a long-sleeve tee! :) You were such a cutie -- and still are!

Jan, doll clothes have played a huge part in my sewing life! My mom made all of mine for my baby dolls and Barbie dolls (I still have them, packed away carefully). She made clothes for my dolls with the scraps left over from the clothes she made for me. When I started sewing for a hobby as an adult, I was collecting dolls as well and sewed a bunch of doll clothes for Barbies and Cabbage Patch Kids.
