A Look at Club Scrap (and a giveaway!)

It started back in June 1999, and today continues to grow and expand. I’m talking of course about Club Scrap, a kit club that creates coordinated scrapbook product kits and ships them around the world to members each month. While the kits vary widely in colors and themes, Club Scrap has a very steady style. So if you enjoy their look, you’re sure to be pleased each month.

Their kit club is similar to others in that each month you’ll receive a boxed kit of product that coordinates. What makes Club Scrap different is that not only do they produce most of their own exclusive designs, but they also have a wide variety of subscription options available to suit different crafters’ needs. The traditional “club scrap” membership includes the monthly kit, and then members also get to choose a “side” (or add-on) kit. The company says that members save over 55% off the retail price of product with this membership. Then they also have a “lite” membership, a “digital” membership, and a “stamping” membership available to fit other crafting needs.

I was sent this kit from a few months ago to work with, and what struck me first about it was how it was set up to create quick & easy pages. A colorful magazine was included as well as layout sketches. Club Scrap’s Assembly Line Scrapbooking is a part of the membership, and is very popular with members. The instructions are easy and clear for recreating layouts with the kit.

In my scrapbooking travels, I have always heard positive things about service and quality from Club Scrap customers. I asked Karen Poirier-Brode, a long-time subscriber, to tell me what she likes about Club Scrap. She had this to say:

I like the assembly line scrapbooking they offer… and the technique videos are wonderful springboards to creativity. The stamps are very high quality and I like the stencils – they are fun for backgrounds and embellishments.

Purchasing Club Scrap and Club Scrap Jr. and side orders is a bit costly though I think I get GREAT value for the money. Of course, I’m a nut about kits in general but this is a very good one.

In looking over this kit and their site I see several strong reasons a person would enjoy a membership and benefit from it:

  • Significant savings. Get more product for your dollar
  • Exclusive product. No worry about getting duplicates of items.
  • Inspiration. Sketches and instructions come with each kit.
  • Community. Online forums provide help and a community of scrapbookers.
  • Flexibility. Crafters get both 8 1/2 x 11 and 12 x 12 patterned paper in a kit.
  • Customer service. Club Scrap has a reputation for excellent service.

I suggest looking over past kits to get a feel for their style, as well as reviewing the terms & conditions for membership for Club Scrap (or for any kit club you might be considering) before deciding if it is for you.

Club Scrap may not be the right kit club for everyone, but they certainly do offer enough options to be widely appealing. They are a strong and well-respected club for good reason.

Think Club Scrap might be for you? Would you like to try it out? One lucky reader will win the kit that we’ve featured in the images in this article. It’s the June 2009 Club Scrap kit and embellishment pack, supplied courtesy of Club Scrap.

Club Scrap products look awesomet; it’s great that they offer different options based on interest. For example, I love to stamp on my scrapbook pages, so I’d be interested in seeing some of their kits that include stamping. Thanks for sharing–would love to have the ease of their coordinated products.
